Infection of Varrock
A safe PvP minigame.

This requires no new graphics. The area used is Varrock, preferably an instanced version of the entire city. The game takes place within the walls so the gates are all sealed. You cannot enter the sewers, teleport, or go inside Varrock Palace.

Basic summary of the game:
PvP, requires 30 players to start (more is better), your items are safe on death, you can bring any items into the game you'd like. Zombies try to convert Humans into more zombies. Humans try to survive as long as possible. Every second you are alive in the game as a Human earns you a point. Points can be spent at the end of the game on combat exp, cosmetic items, or exclusive "zombie slayer" gear which can be used inside the game.

Zombies
At the start of the game 20% of the players who entered become zombies. Zombies fight with just their bare fists and have green skin. Their objective is to kill all the humans. Because they have no weapons, their power is in numbers. The initial 20% should stick together until there are more to join their ranks. If a zombie kills a regular player, the player becomes a zombie. If a zombie is killed they respawn somewhere randomly in Varrock. They have infinite respawns. They also have infinite run energy.

Humans
At the start of the game the remaining 80% who are not zombies are just regular Humans. They spawn randomly throughout Varrock, never together. They are equipped with what ever armor and food they brought in with them. Humans only have one life . Their objective is to become the Last Man Standing. So initially you will work together with other humans to survive, but in the end there can only be one winner. For every second a human is alive they gain a point. Points are used at the end of the game on rewards.

Last Man Standing
Once the zombies have killed all but one human, the survivor is declared Last Man Standing and is the winner of the game. But the game continues until he dies! An indicator is put on his head so all the zombies are aware of his exact location. For every minute he survives his combat stats are drained by 5% and zombie's combat stats are boosted 5%. For every second he survives as Last Man Standing he gains double points (2 per second).

Details
There will be a lot of hiding in houses and buildings during this game. Doors will have to be changed so that zombies can't actually open them but instead have to attack and break them to enter buildings. Humans can then use planks and their construction skills to rebuild doors. Better planks = stronger doors. Doors aren't meant to stop zombies but slow them. Eventually humans will run out of planks, after all.

Because zombies are melee only they are slightly resistant to magic and ranged attacks to discourage humans from just using those two styles of combat.

If the zombies are unable to kill a player within the first 3 minutes of the game their stats are boosted significantly until a kill is made.

The "random zombie selection" at the beginning will need to be slightly biased towards selecting higher level players to help prevent the initial 20% from being super low level noobies. Additionally, there may need to be a combat requirement to even begin the game.

If possible, all NPCs will be removed from this instanced version of Varrock.

Banks are disabled completely.

The initial set of zombies get a set number of points for participating in the game. They also get bonus points for killing humans and breaking doors.

Players who leave the game early are awarded no points and cannot reenter a new IoV game for an hour. This is to discourage people from quitting if they become a zombie early on.

An idea I always wanted as reality since I started RS when I was like 7 :D

Genre: Mini-game -Team (SAFE)

Pretty much a city battle, this can be any city, but I will structure it around Lumbridge as it has the most well known surroundings.
This mini-game will be based of a defence/assault basis. You either choose the side of "defence" or the side of "attack" (sorry for a lack of better words :P ).
From there you would proceed to go to an area on Lumbridge roof or outside, enter one of three portals.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I really like this idea. Seeing as how castle wars has kind of died out, and used to be one of my favs! I've always had an idea like this tho. I mean, the guards in every city need to be for something other than players training on right?!?! In all seriousness tho, I think this could potentially be a great idea. The tricky part is establishing motive for attacking the cities/rewards for doing so. I think it would be pretty cool to join the black knights and launch an assault on Fally. Maybe Varrock is attacked by a group of monsters that roamed to far from the wilderness. Or, the dark wizard's circle summons demons to attack the front gates.

There's all sorts of possibilities. Yanille could finally come under assult of the ogres, Ardy could be attacked by Iban's armies. Just some fun-lore related stuff.

XP is always a nice mini game reward, but i think faction related rewards that are actually useful would be fun too. For example, if you side with Falador, and get "*" amount of kills/tokens/tickets whatever, you could upgrade White Knight armor, that gives increased stats and different bonuses. I think something like that would be very interesting.

ALL CREDIT TO: Itz Dante315 for coming up with this mini-game idea :D

After doing some research on the RuneScape player base, and seeing the kinds of games they play alongside RuneScape, I saw that a lot of the players had played or still play MOBA games such as League of Legends and DOTA 2. The truth is a lot of RuneScape’s player base has moved onto playing the MOBA genre because there are a lot of similarities from MMORPGs which players latch onto. With this in mind I believe it is very possible for the content team to create a MOBA styled minigame for Old School RuneScape, it may also bring some players back to Old School.

Back story and location

Rulers from around Gielinor have uncovered ruins from the Third age, south of Seers village an underground tomb has opened up to the world, inside holds a vast battlefield where ancient battles once took place. The rulers from around Gielinor have requested the best heroes from across the land to come together and fight in honour under the name of one the mighty gods, Saradomin and Zamorak. To enter the battlefield players must first find the cavern entrance south of Seers Village, once inside they will talk to the Gielinor General who will run through the tutorial and basics of the game.

The aim of Heroes of Gielinor

•Players must work in teams of 5 to earn gold to buy items by destroying important structures around the battlefield. Gold can also be earned by last hitting creeps, killing monsters and even other players!

•Players must make their way up through the 3 lanes, pushing past turrets and hordes of creeps. Sanctuaries are huge structures which hold the teams* ultimate power, destroying the other teams sanctuary will result in victory for your team. Getting to it isn’t an easy task; players must first grow powerful by buying items and gaining levels.

This is just a small part of my development blog, check out the full thing on QFC:

Nothing that hasn't already been implemented into the game from these past few years should not make its way into this game. Players tried to change the game with ideas before and we ended up with a game that dropped dramatically in players called Evolution of Combat. Changing this game to much by adding new content might make some stay but it will not be Old School Runescape.

This is what needs to come back into this game to stay alive and be successful.

1. Clan Wars- A free for all portal and a clan portal (both in which are safe there will be no dangerous that is what the wilderness is for)

2. Fist of Guthix- One of my favorite mini games where you got unlimited runes and could practice your switches and cast your favorite spells without wasting money and still earning rewards for putting in time.

3. PENGUINS - I can't stress this enough ! I miss searching for penguins when they reset tuesday at 7:00 pm eastern time. It not only benefits players with money and experience rewards but it also becomes community based where players initially work together.

4. Quests - All the quests prior to EOC can slowly keep coming out in the order they were released so future quest capers can continue to have something to do but at the same time your not drastically changing the game with new items or rewards.

5. Stealing Creation - Most of you aren't going to agree with this but lets face it your putting the time in for the game and taking time away from training. So your not getting any better experience. All it is doing is speeding up your experience at that given time your training. If you were to take the time away for playing and train it'd be the same. You just need to change up from time to time instead of skilling repetitively.

6. How I feel about Dungeoneering and Summoning. Both should be replaced back into the game. Although Dungeoneering should become a mini game but keep the same rewards and maybe possibly add new rewards like the charm collector. Summoning is perfect the way it is. Pets and all and who knows maybe create some new pets?

7. Skilling - My favorite thing to look forward to when mining and fishing was world 89 and 88 going to the deposits and fishing rock tails. It gave something for high level miners to do along with high level fishers and the community needed rock tails for quests and player killing.

8. Player Owned Ports- Although this may be way to early to implement into the game I really like player owned ports and I feel like it was a great addition to the game. I like how they didn't make it a skill it stayed a mini game. The mini game was very beneficial it released new food, great level 80 armour for defense. Although it may be early definitely consider putting this back into the game.

9. Troll Invasion- Another importantly monthly activity that helps players earn experience in those hard to earn experienced skills. The hard mode for players that are more experienced and an easy mode. Both at the end giving experience rewarded to which ever you choose?

10. Urns- I liked having skilling urns because to charge them you needed a certain level and it gave other players a goal.

11. Flasks- These should come out when harder bosses are released back into the game like nex etc etc

There is a lot more I'd like implemented back into Oldschool Runescape. If you can take away evolution of combat, The squeal of fortune, Cosmetic items constantly being released into the game, no more buying items for in game use, and leave the hp system the same and the hits the same I truly believe so many players would play this game again. Continue making new bosses and quests and new items but keep Oldschool the way it was before you changed it.
