I really dislike this idea.
Trading without meeting, or even trading while not online sounds like it will bring back a lot of the problems the GE brought. A tax on trading using this system will help, but will not be enough to vote yes to this system.

I honestly think we don't really need a trading solution, especially now that we have autotyping, which works pretty well to solve the biggest problem i think.

Trading is something you should actively do. I really do think you should meet up with the person you are trading with. I like talking to the people i trade with, something that won't be possible with this kind of trading system.

Edit:

If you add this thing to the game in a fixed location, it should be in falador, not varrock.

What if lets say I want to buy 100 woad leaves and noone is selling. Should** I be able to leave a buy offer so people will know that I am buying 100 woad leaves?

(Woad leaves are just an example it could be anything)

"Just bring Zy's format to RS. A posting board on the official RS site that actually works (not the current forum format obvs)."

I agree completely, its simple and easy enough to use.

"Don't do this to the game. It's going to completely devalue skills that require you to gather items."

I agree. Seen the impact of the GE allready in the past.

"The GE made buying and selling extremely convenient. But, the cost of that was that players no longer had to struggle and interact with other players to upgrade their gear. Any item you wanted, you could have instantly...if you had the cash."

Again, good point. To succeed in oldschool, you have to find your own way to get your supplies or sell them, this is the beauty of this game - every aspect (including social) of the gameplay counts. Atm, everything is in perfect balance.

"Everything is in perfect balance"

get out

If you can't handle a simple game, maybe its you who should get out or better, go try eoc.

It doesn't take a genius to see that OSRS has flaws.

Yes it certainly does have some, I agree with you but the point i've been trying to make: Trading as it is, is essential for the oldschool and makes the game what it is.
I see that we are players of a different era on Runescape, if you don't get my point I don't blame you :)

Oh, I have played through my share of eras. I can log in and show you a yo-yo now if you'd like.

Whether or not AH/GE fits depends on how you personally define Oldschool. There is no official definition. I prefer to see it as pre-2011, rather than pre-2007.

We finally got to the point mate. The definition of oldschool is what divides this community.

Since there are many people supporting the idea and many people hating the idea why not try out the idea for a week or two.

If the idea turns out to be a success, keep it. Otherwise turn back to the trading system of nowadays and work with the players towards a great solution. It is good to learn from updates that can be right or wrong.

I don't think this would work, i think opening this for two weeks could have long-lasting effects on the economy.

NO SUPPORT!!

Why do we have to ruin old school runescape?
This idea is just a copy of the g.e, and will ruin the market like in RS3.
What makes OSRS special is that there is a free market where people actually trade
with eachother and have interaction.

PLZ STOP RUINING OLD SCHOOL.

IT'S THE END OF THE WOOOORLD!!

Seriously, there's not one good argument against the AH.

PLZ STOP BEING NAIVE.

The market was fine up til around 2012. The problem was predominately goldfarming and all the new items. The GE had no role. Especially with free trade, where merc* clans died out.

I see one problem here. If I filter offers by lowest price first. And people are selling quantities up to 50? But lets say I need 10k water runes?

How can I get them cheap but still in big amounts? In search you need to make some options so I can ignore small amounts. For example I can enter minimum amount I want to be offered. Because there will be hundreds of offers for small quantities and lowest price. Yet if I filter by quantity the prices are not filtered?

Please think of it, or explain to me how this issue could be solved.

Also prices will change dramatically, like when GE came magic logs jumped from 800gp to 2000gp. I am gonna make a lot of investments before the system comes. And I know for a fact that some prices will drop and I simply sell these. Recommend everyone to buy and sell to avoid losing bank and earn through investment.
