I'm fine with a physical location for the Auction House but PLEASE don't use the G.E design!

Something small would be better if it's going to be in a city like Varrock.

Perhaps this is where the Trade island could come in?

Imo, having the general stores double as the auction house would be more realistic and ideal ;)

Also.. is there no better name for it? People will start calling it A.H which will suck.

But if you can see the lowest price you would end up with people lowering prices till everything crashes

Not anymore than they do now. It works in every other game and their economies seem fine. People aren't going to hardcore undercut items, especially when they can stick something in and leave it.

Mat K, would this system work with Lootshare?

Im guessing though could track the average trade price of items like **b does, and use that for lootshare points? prob wouldn't work very well though.

In my ears it would actually work pretty fine but idk, lets ask the osrs team..

Lootshare is a big thing in my gameplay and i love it.
Also coinshare working with shards instead of coins would works beside it too fine i hope.
What are you, a concerned beaver?

Yes, that would happen, but there's a certain point that people wouldn't sell something for lower than. They wouldn't sell a lobster for 100gp - they'd probably never go lower than ~250.

To fix the problem about not needing the exact amount the person is selling, perhaps have it work like the Grand Exchange in that fashion?

Since it's instantaneous, it shouldn't be a problem.

For example:

Seller is selling 60 items.

I buy 55.

Seller is now selling 5 items.

Since the trading is, as I've said, instantaneous, the low amount shouldn't discourage people from buying those remaining 5 items from him.

I don't quite understand how a buyer would be able to buy something offline if they have to choose a player to trade with. Or is it a case of specifying the price you would like to buy for and waiting for someone to match that price?

It's just like the Grand Exchange in that fashion. You can complete the transaction if they're offline.

Buying just opens a list of all the current sellers. You'd not be able to buy things while being offline, however you'd be able to sell items if you needed to go offline.

Unfortunately it almost needs to work this way to prevent manipulation. It'd be extremely easy for an extremely rich player to sit there buying every whip that enters the house for under 1.5m each, and then just continuously stacking whips to sell at 1.5m+ each. If hes forced to sell them one at a time taking up a slot each (because really whos going to buy more than 1 whip at a time realistically?) it'll be a lot more difficult to manipulate.
