If someone wants one steel bar now they just go buy a piecemeal off someone selling 1202192 steel bars for 800 each. That person has no incentive to force a bulk trade because it is simply much more efficient to allow multiple people to poach from his giant stack.
There will be enough players with enough small stacks of items to be thrown in the Auction House that theres very little incentive to buy things in big bulk quantities. I just don't see why anyone would buy 10k at once in 1 second when they're more than likely going to be able to buy 10k in smaller stacks cheaper in 10 seconds.
This seems fine to me. Not as scary as I was dreading.
Though there are three things that do concern me:
• Lack of ability to only buy a certain number of items. If they are selling 5000 irit and I only need 1000 and there are now lower number of sales at the time, what are we meant to do? If the issue is about price changes in bulk sales, perhaps a toggle could be added for users who don't mind selling less than the full amount? If that makes sense.
Edit: After reading a previous response, yes, an option to sell in smaller amounts would be helpful.
• Offline trading. I do not like the idea of this at all, though I know the majority would disagree with me.. How am I meant to contact someone if they are offline? I suppose there is the option of choosing someone else who is online at least? Though, this brings up another issue. I'd predict haggling to become less common with the release of an auctionhouse, which is unfortunate as that is a major part of the fun and trading experience. Why should someone bother to haggle if they can just keep their items in the auctionhouse so easily to wait for someone else to automatically buy them with no need to haggle?
• Please do not make this take up a huge area, such as a GE. I'd not want to see a GE-type structure in OSRS. What will this auctionhouse look like? Where will it be? Will it be an actual place in-game?
All in all, I can't complain too much. It's impossible to please everyone.
And I must say that I do like being able to see who I am trading with still, and the fact that there is no guide price.
RSC - Gone, but never forgotten.

i don't like it,i want the original GE,i think the lowest sale offers and highest buy offers should be on top of the list too, will still take to long, and i don't like the interacting, who cares who you trading with?you just need your item as cheap and as fast as possible
Im all for this update. However what i'd dislike is a new area for this. I think the auction house should just be accessible from all bankers like the "collect" option is in rs3 for its ge. Of course the option being now "auction". This would benefit everyone, as there wont be a huge ge area that clears an entire forest were all *Forced* to go to to auction. This also would make the people who'd rather not see the update at all thrown at them. And finally it'll keep inline with **b, as i can make an offer say in the middle of a slayer task, or middle of a quest, instead of HAVING to go to varrock/ whereever location will be. Just my .2cents
I also think a buy offer should be placeable much like a sell offer
The buy and sell offers should not auto complete each other but if someone wants to buy something you have and you agree with their price it saves people having to put up a selling offer at all
I would like to see a small area for it but also maybe around the game a npc you can talk to and it loads apl your offers ect maybe in every bank. Call him trader jack
