Also, i think you should not call this website oldschool runescape call it runescape.net we dont want it to feel like a dead end priv server, this is real :P

so in other words......change the name to make it an actual private server.. lol o.O

STAFF PLEASE READ!

Suggestion:

Bring F2P in
permanently
, so new players won't feel as if their progress is going to go to waste after 2 weeks. HOWEVER, make a VERY limited # of worlds, 1-3 to start so they will be full at all times, which gives F2P players
reason to buy P2P
for less crowded worlds, a
permanent
stay, and then increase the number of F2P worlds as you see fit...

Like others have said, 2 weeks of F2P
will not
be a solution. People convert to P2P as they advance and get higher levels (Eg: Lvl 60 for drag equipment). No one is going to have achieved such stats in 2 weeks... You guys need to look at
long-term solutions
, and not temporary. Permanent F2P means a
bigger chance of increasing player-base LONG TERM
, because 6 months from now,
no one is going to pay
for a product they can't try out first...

I hope this is considered. OSRS staff is making steps in the right direction though, and I support. :)

Agreed! I support this idea! Seems like it is the best solution. Hopefully they take it into consideration!

Man it sucks that you don't have any contact info of all the people who left back in 08 like me. I consider myself lucky to have even herd that rs 2007 is back.F2p needs better advertisement, It also needs to have an incentive for people to become members, not just "hey welcome back,by the way you are miles behind everyone since you joined late ha-ha-ha", give them party hats or something. furthermore
One Thing I know which infuriates me is the new log in style..Email wtf!? and what happened to recovery questions..they were so safe.Activated jag or watever and I got hacked for the first time in my life.. disabled the pile of doo doo.

Turning yews off is not going far enough. In my experience one can simply cut oaks for cash. Yew's take forever and a day to cut oaks are easy peasy and right next to draynor bank. Also bringing back free2play is going to cause a hell of a first week merch storm. Thousands if not millions of gepe is going to be earned selling rune full sets and addy full sets. The price of coal has already gone down enough due to motherload mining has no one thought of the iron/coal bots? Also whose to say that one will not simply bot there stats in freetoplay where they are good enough to bring the character to members and bot the higher tier resources?

Does Jagex not think before they do?

I think marketing from Jagex's end is going to be key in the success and implementation of a f2p game. I like that Jagex is taking care of the essentials (anti botting, rwt, etc) first.

I really do think offering a fully free to play version of OSRS is a key step in ensuring the long term survival of OSRS, and even RS as a whole. I understand that that would be a further down the line stage, and can understand why it would be risky to outright offer a fully f2p version of the game with the potential implications on revenue.

Heavy Facebook marketing would be key in getting old players into the game if they were to discover they could play the old version of Runescape again.

I'll be looking forward to seeing where this goes. I really do hope to see a F2p version of OSRS cranked out, and I know I'll do my share in helping to promote it if it does happen. :)

Well, I could see something like this happening:

F2p opens for two weeks
New players come in to the game
get accustomed to it
Realize they didn't have enough time to skill/enjoy the game
two weeks gone by
few players willing to buy membership
profit lost for jagex
permanent f2p never happens.

All because of a Two-Week trial period

The anti-bot software has improved for a few days, but now bots are back and with a vengeance. I haven't seen anything like it since the pre eoc days. I'm tired of reporting all these level 3's with absurd usernames waiting for them to be banned, it's interfering with my game play tremendously. Accept the truth

I'm not sure if this has been done on RS3 since I don't play it at all, but this would be a cool feature to add to oldskool to make it more unique:
Add a microphone chat feature in the clan chat. Meaning that if you have headphones or a mic plugged in, you can chat with your friends in your clan chat
A few new buttons that could be added would be: Turn On Mic/Mute Mic/Only hear Chat through Headset/Chat+In Game Sound in Headset

That would be a REALLY cool feature since Clan Wars is coming back. That could also boost the whole Clan Wars idea because you can talk strategy faster than type strategy. Just an idea however.
