Trading System V2

As always, the community has been fantastic in its quality and quantity of feedback and we have spent a large amount of time reading through it.
It is quite obvious that the subject of a trading system is something which many of you feel strongly about. What is really interesting is that there isn’t one school of thought which is prevailing above all others. This obviously makes designing an overarching trading system which will pass a pole very difficult indeed. So, what we think is the best solution is we will allow you to construct the features within a trading via the pole system. That way the community will end up with a trading system that it wants.

Looking at the feedback, the basic trading system that the majority seems happy to agree upon is something similar to a trading post. In essence, players will be able to post up trade offers which every other player can see. These offers will not remain posted when an account is offline and you will have to meet up to trade through the existing trading system. This system is what we will offer first. If this system doesn’t achieve 75% approval, there will be no additional trading system added to the game.

Question: Should we introduce a trading post where you can post trade offers which will be visible to everyone? Offers will only appear when the seller is online and you will need to trade through the existing trading system.

Two of the biggest requests for a trading system was to be able to post sales when you are offline as well as not having to meet up via to trade. These will form the basis of the next two questions.

Question: If we introduce the trading post, should players’ trade offers be visible when they are offline?

Question: If players' trades are visible when they are offline, should they be visible for more than 6 hours?

Question: If we introduce the trading post should players be able trade items through it rather than having to meet up to trade through the existing trade system?

The next stage of the poll is to address what features you would like when buying items from the trading post.

Question: If we introduce a trading post through which you are able to buy items, should you be able to buy only part of a sellers offer if you want? For example, if the seller is selling 1,000 of an item, you can buy only 100 if you wish.

Question: If we introduce a trading post through which you are able to buy items, should you be able to add buy offers for items and let the trading post find the best match for you?

Question: If we introduce a trading post that matches offers for you, should your buy offers be visible when you are offline?

By answering these questions the community will be able to decide on how far the trading system should help you, from a simple trading post to a fully integrated system.

Looks good, but for offline trading is there any way to see if we can have offers stay up for 30 minutes after a player logs out? As a 'compromise' between offline trading and no offline trading

Or at least 5 minutes, something as simple as hopping worlds shouldn't take your offer down

Good job. I'm interested in seeing what the community thinks about these suggestions. I for one think that the minor details about this system will play a big role in the buying and selling processes, such as the amount of time (if any) an offer will be available after you log out. Still a work in progress, though, and I think this idea is better than the auction.

Personally, I just want a system where I can get my items quickly and easily, so I can go and play the actual game. :P

A lot of people obviously prefer to drag it all out though.

should be a question were you can only buy only increments

example: I'm selling 50k nats

(I) will sell them in 1k increments only. not 1500, not 500, not 25500.

So what we need
any:
increments:
all:

also, offers should automatically stay up for 5mins after going offline to account for hopping worlds. Would be really annoying if you were selling 50k nats and you had to repost your offer 15 times.

p.s. think we could sneak in another question?
"should recipe for disasters gloves be converted to coins upon death instead of simply disappearing into nothing. This means when you die with barrow gloves, there will be 130k for you or other people to pick up."

I think we have to be careful to keep the poll to the biggest features, other additional features like this can be added during the development process based on feedback from players. Alternatively we can do another poll further down the development process to add additional features.

I've added a question about how long offers should be available for when the player is online. It should give us an idea of where we should head to.
