This just goes to show how different individuals feel about the trading solution. Some want one thing, others want another. There isn't going to be an easy solution to this.

Couldn't you just add a question like this or something and see what % it gets.

Question: Would you like to see the grand exchange added to osrs as it was in November 2007.

Can't you just make an Auction House without offline trading?

I'd assume he's just asking for something else because a trading post would bring nothing new to what is available right now. Everything would stay the same, but with an added in-game way of doing something that a lot if not most people did with the aid of third party, which isn't much progress in itself. Basically the same thing Autochat did.

Bots would still camp W1 and key areas like W2 Edge to optimize profits.

The problem with compromising the Auction House idea is that some people wanted us to compromise it one direction, and others in another direction. As there is such a range of demands for what the community wants from a trading system we think that putting the whole process in the hands of the community is the best way forward.

I think the community being so split just says that the polls shouldn't be done this way.. People who want a trading solution but not the bare minimum (in game ***** price guide) are forced into voting yes because they do want a trade update, just not that one, they're voting yes without knowing what they're really voting on. So when you say you're letting the community decide what's best that's not true due to the way the polls are set up it's in favour of one side of the community which I don't think is really fair, you say it's putting it in the hands of the community to figure out the best way, but really you're just forcing it on us.

Like I said I don't think any sort of GE/AH will ever pass because the community isn't just split on that, they're split on just about everything that makes it work too. So maybe it is for the best just to get it over and done with and not waste any more time on it.

Hopefully, this poll will show us what the community can form a consensus on, it is quite possible that nothing will pass and nothing will change, which isn't the end of the world by any means.

I'm new here but I'd have to say we should poll first before anything what people want truly before we poll auction house, grand exchange, and no solution or something before we go straight into ah polls.

What about all the players that wanted offline trading?

The trading solution should work only when both parties are online. 32% (6207 votes)

Your trades should only be available for a limited period after you have gone offline.
11% (2223 votes)

The trading solution should work when you are either online or offline. 57% (10974 votes)

There's no such thing as "all the players" wanting offline trading. Just a vocal minority on the forums... most don't care.

It's just that progress should not be made on an account while offline. Being able to flip and merc* with offline trading is making a lot of profit without having to be online; the same as merc* bots, which we are trying to eradicate in the first place.

You're ignoring the 57.. 11+57 = 68% in favor of offline trading, which is a majority actually. 11% would rather it just be a small duration.

The only way for this to work is if you are not allowed to trade offline for an extended period of time. Whether buying or selling both can be a huge advantage for bot merchants, it will make things much easier obviously. At most it should be available around 3-4 hours after being offline, then disappear. Great idea though, I'm completely against a ge, but this is nothing like that, this could work well in Old School.

All the questions in this dev blog are question that will be asked in an upcoming poll

People are gonna pick to buy low and sell high, It just seems like a lot of work and more time trying to buy a certain amount of something than if it was just the G.E setup where the items were just bundled into groups of their price range. The only people that don't want the G.E are the merchers, and they ruin the game themselves by taking advantage of the needs of people and exploiting the prices with merchant bots. At least with the Grand Exchange you didn't see it happening even though it still did. You keep talking that you want the game to be a social experience but you could just do that by making more mini-games that involved more players. Or you could add group quests that take multiple people to do it with(not just Shield of Arrav and Heroes). When people want to buy and sell an item they don't care about that 5 second interaction and I(and everyone else) don't become friends with people they trade. They simply get their item or cash and move on with the game. Simplifying the trading system by putting the G.E into the game would make getting an item or your cash faster so you could actually do your clue scroll or finish your quest. To be honest the game was perfect the week before the EoC came out and should of just continued separately from that and the EoC should of had to start with a fresh account since in one update you changed the game more than all the other updates combined. With all the changes in Old School RS so far the game is far from August 2007. More effort should be placed in ridding the game of the bots that influence the prices more than merchers. People can still make money with the 5% up and down offers on the G.E. Playing the game should be the social aspect of it, not the procurement of items. The Grand Exchange was a very social place pre EoC with people skilling at the banks and maybe you could add a mini-game in the middle to attract more people.
5 Second Fuses Only Last 3 Seconds.
