the chat was scrolling to fast for me to see what they wrote..

If you switch to the trade tab and have autochat off you should easily be able to see what they wrote, that's a pretty poor excuse. And I'm a supporter of automated trading.

this is perhaps things a professional merchant would know how to do, but most of us don't spend enough time to be able to do so with any easy. for many people its way to confusing.
frankly my dear, I couldn't give a dam. never had a river to build one on.

This poll acts like the Grand Exchange on steroids. Not only will you be able to buy and sell through this post, but you will also have a time limit if you plan on leaving the computer.
The Grand Exchange was the main reason bots did what they did. I fear this game will never be the same great 2007 version of Runescape due to the amounts of children who were either to young or weren't even born then to play the true "Old School Runescape". With the lack of knowledge and greed for power or money in the game, the people who vote for the fate of the game will soon destroy it the way Runescape 3 has been ruined.
This of course is just the opinion of a person who has played through the 2007 version and even before that. A person who got a feel for the game when we only got lucky to find a person willing to sell their Rune armor for a fair price. A person who got the thrill of an actual adventure game. Instead of the modern bot-for-money game we have now, cleverly aided by the Trading post and Grand Exchange that children vote for.
I would be glad to pay more for an actual adventure game like the real 2007 Runescape.

LOL? This is a very limited version of the ''G.E.'' if you want to call it that. Offline trading and trading through the post is most likely not going to pass.

What a lot of you people cannot seem to get through your thick skulls is that if you want the "oh so marvelous joy of trading face-to-face", you can still do it with other people who get the same pleasure as you. Why do those who don't want to spend 3 hours buying 1 item have to go down with you?

Also, looking back at 07, you did not give a rat's ass about this "thrill of trading face-to-face" and most of you loved the G.E. Question 4 has to pass, as well as offline trading. Otherwise, this is just Zyb in game.

Yes!!! but not the offline trading.

I don't really understand why the #4 haven't gone over 75%.
People are asuming it will destroy the the social part of runescape?
If you can make the trades in the trading post you can still trade other people who are also looking for that sociial part. You don't take away that part if you allow trades to be made over the trading post.
Vote yes for the #4 option
And it seems like the bigger part of the community wants it so I think you should skip the 75% req

+1 I think the thing is, if it does pass I bet about 80% of those people who said that ''it will ruin the interaction'' are just going to start trading though the post a week after it releases. I bet that they are going to find out real quick that it beats spamming in a sea of bots of hours.

why? why would it be necessary to force people to do so?
why? some people like to ''specialize'' in one herb or pot...
what your saying is that you believe the gathers have no right to make money...
basically, what your saying is that jagex should turn the game into merchantscape...
no, if you cant make money without ruining the trading post, you don't deserve to make money.

No, just no.
You obviously dident read what i said properly.

How do gathers not have the right to make money? Raw materials can be sold via tradewindow, this ensures the social factor is still there, and that raw materials cannot be exploited by merchants as they usually are. (traded in bulk amounts via GE), or mass bot farmed, and dumped on GE to lower market values.

“basically, what your saying is that jagex should turn the game into merchantscape so you don't have to play the game to make money.“

I don’t know what the hell you’re on about, if anything, the above solution rewards those who play runescape more.
To sell on the proposed solution, raw materials need to be processed in some way – THIS MEANS PLAYING. This means players and bots cant be specific skill orientated if you want to use the Trading post – requiring you to level Crafting, Smithng, etc etc.

“if you cant make money without ruining the trading post, you don't deserve to make money.”

Ruining how? Inability to trade raw materials on the trade post does the following:
Combats bots by not allowing raw material mass farming then dumping on Trade post to flood market - And furthermore every item related to that raw material.
Values players who level other skills, and in turn, play more, or are generally better.
Values players who are able to process the raw materials they find, in turn rewarding players who spend time on more skills then 1 (bots)
Values players who still want the social factor of trading

I play RuneScape off and on nowadays but I do remember a time before the Grand Exchange and what that meant for players then. I think what drove a lot of people away from the main game was the advent of 'make-it-easy' updates, the Grand Exchange was one such update, 'Make X' was another. People have their reasons for supporting both. My opinion though is that there is a difference between altering monotonous gameplay versus making the game easier. Either way I err on the side of caution in making any changes that make the game 'easier.'

Some of the mechanics in the modern version of RuneScape are a direct result of Jagex seeking to make the game easier. The apex (or nadir) of this was the SoF/Treasure Hunter in which gold and experience were given out for free. I'd expect almost everyone who reads my post to consider what I say as old news, however it must be said for the sake of context.

My point is, people will ask for things to make their gameplay easier in lieu of a challenge. The old trading system is a unique form of market PvP that I have not seen (Think World 2 in 2007) in any other game. The Grand Exchange represents an easy-mode version of trade that is a pale mockery of advanced trade interfaces as found in games such as Eve Online. If the Grand Exchange is to return, I expect taxes, escrows, and more balancing mechanics to make it less of a 'push button, receive bacon' gameplay addition.

If anything, a trading post that shows the daily/weekly/monthly average price of an item wouldn't be be too bad in my opinion. However, I would rather the current system of having to hunt for a trade stay above all else.

Yes it's a bunch of players spamming the chatbox on World 2 along with a lot of spammers, morons, and what-have-you. Yet do you want that vibrant sort of dialogue and trade or a distanced and automated system like the Grand Exchange that does not encourage player interaction.

sure gathers could make money IF THEY WANT TO WASTE TIME. you are forcing people to stand around AFTER they have gathered items and since they aren't wanting to do that (they would be merchants if they did), they will eventually have to sell to the merchants that under cut them and sell a hugely discounted rate.

THIS is what was happening before the ge. IF gatherers cant sell on the trade center, they will be force to sell way below market. most of the time gathers don't trade in large stocks. they will get 100, 300 or 500 raw materials then try to sell them. buyers want 1k 5k or 10k. they don't want to buy small groups so they will turn to a merchant who has bought from gathers at a huge loss to the gathers. they will inflate the price so that the buyer cant make a profit. this is how the game was before the ge. THIS is what you are driving at.

translation: "everyone has to play MY game MY WAY instead of playing THEIR OWN GAME their way. I and ONLY I have the right to decide how people should play their game."

get over yourself, people don't want to play your game. they want to play their own game their own way.

in addition players often gather materials in one area to do another area. you don't have the right to tell them they cant do that. ALL that this will do is lead to merchantscape, something you obviously think is better than the game is now, with gathers, users and others able to MAKE MONEY.

Ruining how? Inability to trade raw materials on the trade post does the following:

what it does is force players to go to merchants unless they have 10000 of something. most gathers will sell less than 100 buy buyers want 1k 5k or 10k and they insult anyone that try to sell them smaller quantities. they will turn to merchants who will not be playing the game but will instead stand around buying and selling in bulk.

several years ago, I observed this happening. I myself was trying to sell 250 coals. for over an hour I tried to sell but everyone buying wanted 3k or more at a time. a merchant in the bank kept under cutting me and making an offer of 125 gps for anyone selling coal in small groups. he sold it for 195. even when I offered my 250 coal for 175 no one would buy it because they wanted large amounts.

THIS is what you would return to the game.

Values players who still want the social factor of trading

there is no such thing as social factor of trading. you spam the banks with an offer, and then trade with people. then its over. no discussion, no "how's life treating you", no "how about last nights game".

all most all the social factor happens during minigames, skilling and such. the only social factor of trading is merchants insulting people that try to make money off skills because "everyone knows merchanting is the real game".
