His point isn't really "You might make new friends"...
Its the fact that Runescape is NOT a single player game. And when you add in interfaces such as a trading solution it pushes it towards a single player game. I understand some people enjoy playing the game by themselves and that's fine but there needs to be some sort of player interaction for the game to survive. You take that away and the game will slowly die.
The other point people don't consider is that it will ruin the economy. A trading solution just makes it easier for merchants to manipulate prices. All it would take is a few clicks for them to flood or starve the market of some items to drive prices up or down. It might not happen right away but if you add a trading solution it will devalue a lot of skills and resources and in the end make the game less enjoyable.

I'm not sure if you're serious or an idiot. Firstly, how do you think a GE/Trading Post system works? Someone still has to go and cut the yew logs and put up an offer for me to be able to buy them, they're not just spawned into the game. The game is still multi-player whether i have to spend half an hour in W1 to find them or whether i can go to a Trading Post and purchase them.
Also, it will actually boost the economy. Right now there are limited money making opportunities as there's limited markets. No one is going to stand in W1 selling red/yellow/black/white beads for hours that they got from killing imps. Bring in a GE/Trading Post and bam, there's a market for just about everything. He can leave his beads up there and maybe even get a reputation as being the 'bead guy' and people will pm him for their beady needs.
Just look at games like WOW with a similar auction house system. It works amazingly.
Use your brain.
