Why wasn't this done instead of or before Bloods/Souls?
Im against this with bloods and souls as good as they are currently. Even though I loved ZMI and thought it fit into RC much better than bloods/souls did which are wayyy too worthwhile(cheers to the iron-whingers who helped make it happen!)

You seem to be under the misconception that you won't have to repeat the same ZMI runs "100 million times" in order to achieve the same result. That part doesn't change. And it would take the exact same amount of time, unless you chose to do the faster method of Lavas, in which case it would take longer.
Kind of pointless really with those exp rates. Should at least be the same as lava runes at level 99 doing zmi (which are 60-70k an hour), given the fact that half the runes you get are worthless from zmi.
Then at least there is method of getting some money while getting top notch exp at the best levels.

I wonder if people are opposed because it allows lower level players to make their own blood and soul runes? They are made in small enough quantities that I doubt it will cut into higher level players profit margins.

I loved the ZMI altar back in the day however I don't think adding it to Old School RuneScape would be a great idea. It looks like it dramatically increases experience rates by 1.5 times, especially for lower levels. At higher levels you could say it's similar to blood/soul runecrafting however getting dark essence is an obstacle which takes up time whereas ZMI has nearly no obstacles.
So it was nice in other runescape but I'd rather not see it in Old School.

Finally we have signatures in the surprise forum update. I'm Lewis, I play Old School & I've been playing since 2005.
I'm not sure why this isn't obvious to everyone but I would like to make something very clear. Abusing 3rd party software (such as AHK) to gain INCREASED xp rates SHOULD NOT be considered the norm! Yes I know it fits into that lovely little grey area that's technically allowed, but for those that want to play without it runecrafting can be extremely slow. I don't mind so much that people use it, more the fact that It's considered normal. I am level 64 runecrafting and struggle to get 25-30k xp/hr. Alternative less AHK dependant methods with (lower profits) are a welcome sight. As a bonus this content already exists and will not take up valuable Dev time! Please consider passing it.

Xp/h rates are going to be equal with RS3 easy mode. Maybe I'm too old school for this. Hey wait! Isn't this osrs? well I think this is NOT any more...

The max xp/h hasn't changed. We are a long way off RS3's Runecrafting xp rates. Don't kid yourself.
