Combatting the mule/swapping is great, but there's a huge issue being overlooked.
As one of the combatants in the Season 2 Tournament, Saradomin Brews (and to a lesser extent, prayer pots and super sets) were the well-known deciding factor in how long you survive in the finale. Gold became worthless leading up to the finale, and many players traded other USEFUL items for supplies they needed.
Removing trade from the DMM Tournaments guarantees that no essential supplies will trade on the last day, possibly sooner. "Merchanting" will basically become a requirement for those that plan on being competitive in the finale.
I also see this being easy enough to exploit. In addition to skillers protecting their few high-level skills, they could easily be killed for whatever gold or items they have to transfer items to their main, sell a few "junk" items in their bank left over, use that gold to buy raw materials, and continue skilling. Have an item/stack you don't want transferred to your main? Drop it before being killed, then pick it up within the 60 second window.
Additionally, the first thought in my mind if I were being chased by a clan for, say, a Torag/Guthan helm would be to unequip and
DROP
it on the ground.
Clans are pretty powerful during the tournament, but both previous winners have been solo players.
