Those first three are legitimately terrible - Artisan isn't a skill at all, and Astrology/Forestry just don't seem to fit with any version of Runescape at all, as the training methods are weak, and simply don't really offer much.

At first glance, Geomancy (Call it what is is - Archaeology) seems generally best designed, though Herding (Also call it what it is - Ranching) has the most potential for skill tie-ins and expansion in the future. Either one of those may well work, if rewards are balanced.

I can see Geomancy working well as a side-product to Mining/Smithing, by developing trinkets to wear (Rings, Amulets, ect) and imbuing things, while Herding working as a nice production skill to help with Crafting, Farming, Fletching, and Firemaking.

It just seems too dry, you need to get a skill that will make everyone go. "Oh, I NEED that skill!" It's usually the drive for the consistent grind this game has, not to mention we have a small community so it'd be nice if we got a skill that you saw the people cheering for.

Summoning however, serves a large purpose.
And it's a skill that would fit in perfectly with the current game state.

Just because we get summoning doesn't mean we get all the crap that came afterwards guys.

Cheers. ;)

okay, im goingto be honest i really want a new skill but none of those seems really good to me. theye all look more like a minigame then a skill to me. idk cant imagine the rewards being great or it being any fun in the longer run.
(of the topic, i want summoning back it's really usefull and doesnt affect cb as in ur damage doesnt change its just really usefull)

I'll be honest.

All of the 'entries' listed here are terrible.

They aren't skills.
They are mini-games/task systems/re-hashes of EOC updates that RS3 got.

I wish my entry would have been chosen.
At least mine was original and more like a skill than the trash that was picked to be voted on.

If you want to see what should have been a choice here, have a look for yourself:

they all seem pretty terrible. none of them made me think; oh that's cool. they all remind me of dungeoneering. its not a real skill, its a minigame pretending to be a skill. truth me told, I voted geomancy as there wasnt a "none of the above" option. regardless, if any of these make it into the game they will remain level 1 on my account unless there's something I can use for pking or pvm'ing. Honestly Id have prefered something like divination or summoning.

These new skills are not very thoroughly thought of, though they may seem, they have really no relevance to oldschool, and for those of you THAT WANT SUMMONING YOU HAVE EOC, 07 is meant to keep the wild alive, summoning kind of killed that and forced people out when people brought BoB's into the wild stacked with food. How is that fair? it's not. All you new members to RS really aggitate me cause you're changing what used to be RuneScape. 07 was brought back because people wanted to do some pking, if you can't handle getting owned in the wild, go back to PvM on EOC, simple as that. We do not need a new skill, or if there is to be one, at least make it interesting, and not a story to advance every level.

I've been reading comments, I honestly believe at the very least that there should be a selection for no skill update at all.. That isn't fair to the players. Most people don't even want a new skill in oldschool. I feel as if we're being forced to choose.

Common guys artisan seems pretty much a replica of the task system in rs3. Why make a a big deal in bringing back old school rs if were just gonna create the same game with worse graphics. I like the idea of revitalizing other skills but I think it should be done in a new way. Forestry looks like a more unique way to do that, rather than implementing an already present system (in rs3) and calling it a skill. Too bad it looks like artisans already won - horray for another dissapointing update.

Edit: obviously I'm a fan of the forestry idea.....since artisan looks like the new skill couldn't forestry be integrated into construction? Players could choose to fill in the empty spaces of their poh with this "diseased" forest that way its already personalized and there could be an option to toggle whether players could help out or not. Once players reach the construction level require to plant the central flower(s) his/her various skills dictate what grows or spawns. This being said I think the rest of the skill ideas could be integrated. Herding into hunter, gemancy into mining, and astronomy into its own minigame. All of this on top of the"skill" artisan would be a huge and arduous process but think of how many people with different opinions would be satisfied.
