Skill: Artisan

my input would be that i support this new skill, it would be the "slayer" for the non combat skills. However i think the reward system should be altered in a way to suit high rewards.

In saying so, it would make sense to introduce new content, such as higher level ores, trees, fish, purely for its boosted xp benefits, and just like slayer, these resources should require a certain Artisan level to be obtained, this will keep a high price for these items since botting artisan would be near impossible, i would support it if such alterations were made in the reward system.

Howdie,
I have read those 5 that have been posted. I’m surprised at how in-depth these ideas are on such short notice. I applaud all of you for your creative abilities! Now, having said that yes… these are (appear to be) rough drafts. Seriously to make a (cough) flawless content is near impossible even for people in the business. None the less these people have done a wonderful job.

I don’t want to make this a novel so I’ll keep it short at the risk of (however I may come across) (hopefully positive) sounding unkind or whatever.

They all have their merits but for (Non-combat) skills you should not be forced into a combat environment i.e.: wilderness (pkers camping fountain etc.), to get something charged or to use an item there. To me non-combat is non-combat period.

Yes, there are some that seem like (today’s challenge) and some seem like a lot of work on their own let alone how long things take in Old School to begin with.

I miss having the ability of carrying (extra) item(s) by having a (Familiar) with me. Now, this Motherlode Mine is a nice touch since it does offer items (similar to Dungeoneering) like coal & gem bags.

I must say in all fairness I did not join this game till 2009 so the (feel) of Old School… idk, I miss not having gravestones to possibly retrieve items lost on death since its sooo hard to make money in game.
I miss the (General Exchange) or at least some place (in game) where no time is spent selling/buying instead of skilling/player killing!

Ok, like I said in the beginning all 5 have merit but the (Geomancy) would be my first choice… but I think the Jagex crew needs to (refine) the requirements as to what is a (skill) to help people refine their efforts. =)

I would like to give input to new content in this game but it has (security) sensitive content and I don’t feel comfortable posting in public. How would I contact Jagex privately about it idk… I’m still a noob in many ways lol.

PLEASE DO NOT BRING BACK SUMMONING !!!

There isn't enough players for this skill, prices of gwd/dks.. drops are already low,
if they bring back summoning whats the point of playng then??? bandos and zammy hilt
would be worth same as their high alch.
Only remaining items that keeps this economy from crashing are sharks, yews, pots and other PK related items (sadly most of them colected by bots) 3rd age items are only valuable items...
If you wanna have sumoning go to eoc...

I like the idea of Artisan also Geomancy and Herding sounds intresting.

Side note;

Like (lady bkay) mentioned having a skill that’s nearly impossible or impossible to be botted or even afking would be a plus.

(personal grumbling) I hate bots etc but since I have (paid) for several accts. and don't know hardly anyone in Old School I recently found I can't help my (other) accts. by dropping items for them I created using my main acct. I heard this was called (drop trading)*****;sighs> Its taken a long time to get one acct. to the point that I can help myself (or anyone else) and now I can't even help myself... idk... its always sometin...
I do follow the rules so I never log on to more than 1 acct at a time and even with the short time stuff says on ground you risk losing it if you don’t log in again in time (like having been on for 6 hours). Ok, I guess like all decisions made here I’ll just deal with it but I probably won’t continue paying for multiple accts.

Artisan sounds interesting. Kind of disappointing that there wasn't any good original ideas up there, but I can understand how difficult it would be to implement something that's "too good" considering the size of your team.

Original message details are unavailable.
Not sure about any of the ideas... I feel it would be better in having no new skill and having more time spent on developing other area's of the game.

Would like an option to vote for "None of the Above" on the poll for new skills.

If you don't agree with any of them, you could simply vote for the lowest one.

Artisan is the only skill with any appeal; it's a common suggestion but one that requires a lot of alteration compared to what we've been shown in these designs.

XP rates need adjusted.
Rewards need adjusted so as to not crash resource prices therefore defeating the point of using artisan as the profitable way of this game.
Individual boosts to skills should be given similarly to the slayer helmet; why would someone contemplate doing high level tasks such as fish * sharks or woodcut x magic logs if the task was going to be extremely slow with a low xp/ph? An artisans version of the slayer helmet makes artisan more appealing in an attempt to get resources and furthermore gives reward to having trained the skill. Balancing is key.
New tiers of resources available via only the artisan skill allow for motivation similarly to how slayer specific creatures drop items that others do not (abbysal demon drops abbysal whip).
