I think the first two options (Artisans and Astronomy) should give options/items to allow upgrades to various tools used in other skills.

Upgrades to certain tools such as:

- Tinderboxes upgrade to "Tinderbox with flint" which reverts to a tinderbox after extended use
The Tiderbox with Flint would have a higher chance of lighting logs, or would make attempts to light logs faster.
Fires lit with the Tinderbox with Flint could provide either a bigger flame, or burn longer depending on the amount of use.

- Knives can be sharpened to become "Sharpened knife" which revert to simple knives after extended use
Sharpened knives could either cut logs and materials faster, or provide a small experience boost when cutting materials

- Chisel can be upgraded to become a specified tool, such tools could be (woodworking chisels can also carve logs into planks):
~ Carving Chisel - Can be used to cut logs into works of art, which could be displayed in a POH
~ Slick Chisel - Can be used like a regular chisel, only have some sort of boost. Such as less chance of breaking gems, or

the rare chance of producing two cut gems
~ Skew Chisel - Can be a more advanced version of the Carving Chisel, allowing higher leveled artwork to be made
~ Gouge Chisel - Can be yet another, more advanced version of the Skew and Carving Chisels, allowing higher level

woodworking
~ Dovetail chisel - Can allow the player to cut various parts to create their own equipment, such as bird snares. Such

things would need secondary resources in order to make the finished product.
~ Possibly more variations of the chisel, which could be useful to create specific parts of objects for POHs. Such as a

chisel made for making legs of tables, crafting unique designs for stairs and other objects. Different parts made by different

chisels could be put together to create unique cosmetic objects for your POH

~ Cold Chisel - Could be used in conjunction with a hammer to allow a player to smith items without an anvil. This method

would take a lot longer than using an anvil, and the chisel would either break or need repairing after a certain time period.

Upgraded hammers could speed up this process.
~ Stone Chisel - A stone chisel could be used to, well, cut stone. This would be neat, as it could allow players to create

stone statues for their POH.
~ Masonry Chisel - Can be used to clear out various stones around RuneScape, making way for new agility shortcuts. There

could be several different versions of this chisel, based of materials used, that could open up different agility shortcuts. Such

variations could be: Moil Chisels, Flat Chisels, Ashphalt Cutters, Carbide Brushing Tools, Clay Spade, Flexible Chisels, and

Tamper Chisels. Each variation would have it's use clearing/carving a specific material.

- Upgraded axe and pickaxe handles, which prevent the head of your axe from falling off, or to avoid assisting bots, either make

the head spawn in your inventory, or closer to the player. The axe handles could also be made to look appealing and be used purely

for cosmetic reasons.

- Upgraded farming tools, which could enhance the speed of the tasks in which they were made for. The smithing skill could also be

used here to make new parts for said tools. Such as: Willow-Steel Rake

- Upgraded fishing tools, which could be worn, and possibly have a higher chance of catching their respective fish. These upgraded

tools could degrade and break after a certain period of use. (Metal could rust, or wood could rot/crack/break)

- An upgraded hammer (axe/pickaxe handle with a smithed head), which would allow the player to smith items faster, and could be

worn.

- Upgraded lockpicks, which would allow a higher chance of picking the target. These would have a very limited number of uses

before being damaged/lost

- Smelting Pan - Can be bought/made and can be worn. Allows a player to more easily get ores from a furnace. Using a smelting pan

could always successfully smelt an iron ore, or allow the player to smelt other ores with one less peice of coal. These pans could

be warped and degraded over time, and either break or need repaired.

That's pretty disappointing how someone can take another persons idea and butcher it slightly, and call it their own. If "Artisan" doesn't sound like "Apprenrice", I don't know what does... lol.

Here is where it was located, take a look for yourself... Apprentice Skill

~ Nic

Agreed, Nic, seems very unfair the devs chose to present the plagarized option to the community. My sympathies on having your good work overlooked in this way.

May i ask why Agility, Construction and Thieving aren't in the list of Artisan skills do be assigned tasks for? Just curious....

Construction may be costly, the other two i can't think of a reason. Agility would be nice i don't understand why it's not in the list. 'Run 250 laps of barbarian outpost agility course' What's wrong with that? :(

I did not include Construction because it's too much of an intentional money sink to be fairly included, I think. The other two, theiving and agility, I struggled with either including or not, but ultimately decided against because they are not skills in which you create something or gather a resource. If Jagex thinks they should be included in the final design document if it wins, I definitely wouldn't be opposed to it.

You can check me on OS high-scores Son of Light - Horns and cowhides definitely did not get me those level's :P noo way lol

@Pig and everyone else about current skills

None of these "new skills" really offer rewards that are either original or worth getting, and that's what your after from a skill..

You are right, some / most skills can be boring, but lets be honest:

Woodcutting - Get logs
Firemaking - Use logs
Fletching - Use logs, use smithed stuff, make ranged stuff

Fishing - Get Raw Fish
Cooking - Cook stuff

Mining - Ore
Smithing - Smelt and Smith

Farm - Farm stuff to Cut, Collect, Use
Herb - Uses supplies (usually farmed stuff)

Runecrafting - Make Runes
Magic - Use Runes

Hunter - in OSRS, basically Chins, let's be honest
Range - Use chins / ranged stuff through fletching

Combat - Smithed equipment? Not really, but use to be!
Slayer - Different way to train Combat in a more fun way, you actually "slay" stuff though

Construction - Total money sink, still useful though

Agility - Run Energy more or less

---

Ok, so these "new skill ideas" give new..

Artisan - motes of inspiration made to use stuff that lasts next to no time (1 bag load or if that) or 5% increased damage on said monster for limited time - but it's a "skilling" thing

Astronomy - Nothing useful and gives us nothing new anyone would use at high levels

Forestry - Good rewards to current skills only (making it a good -minigame- idea in my opinion) not a skill though.

Geomancy - To combat orientated rewards and almost required for all MELEE users, but you don't actually do combat for this "skill" - again, nothing worth really level'ing for anyways.

Herding - Junk :P Just stuff that's already out + Ardy Cape basically + Agility compromise that Agility should offer instead.

Remember, these are my opinions, but none of the "new" skills have any connection to new resources, new complimentary aspects or new rewards that it's worth doing them for... Unlike every other skill in the game.

personally I don't like any of the skills on the vote list, and dungeoneering shouldn't be added to oldschool,it would render every oldschool weapon useless, let keep it oldschool and not make new armor and weapons that will make all of the other current weapons and armor useless

Good, I would hope not. The level 10 and 25 of a production skill shouldn't get you 80+ in a skill. That's why I made such low requirements for those items.
