I hate how this is going to sound, but surely a few of the other 450 submissions had to have been better than these. I know the one I submitted was better. I'm sure there had to have been at least 5 better than mine, though.

Highly suggest watching this youtube video on
FORESTRY
, it shows off the skill so well and definitely is my number one after watching it!!!

Simply copy and paste into this ^ into your search bar after youtube.

Thanks for posting it a few times buddy but you don't have to post it over and over again :) That'd get annoying for others.

After watching the video I WANT this skill in the game for sure, looks amazing, told my clan to go watch the video too. I won't post it again!

There's this weird concept floating around of "stand-alone skills". Like... there is no such thing. Skills are all intertwined.

You think anyone trains Woodcutting because it's fun, engaging, or original? No. People train Woodcutting so that they can train Fletching, Firemaking, and Construction. Do you think Smithing could exist without Mining? No. Do people train Agility so that they can do higher level agility courses? No. They train Agility so that they can take shortcuts that assist the training of other skills .

I'm also amused at all the people calling for Summoning or Dungeoneering. When those skills came out, the community said "OMG, worst skill ever, this sucks!". But now Summoning is loved (yes, people quit over it back in the day) and Dungeoneering is loved by some while despised by others. I don't think either is needed in Old School.

If people would just give some new ideas half a chance, they mind find them to be quite enjoyable.

That being said, I share some people's disappointment that some version of Sailing did not make it. We aren't joking, Jagex... Sailing could actually be a good skill.

The thing is, it's very hard to articulate the appeal of runescape or its skills. We all spend huge amounts of time doing things that are impossible to describe the motivation for in words. I bet 95% of people think their submitted design was the best, purely because they and they alone can imagine the appeal without words. If yours was up here it would be insulted just as much as these skills are.

It's not Slayer though that's the thing. It doesn't work.

85 Slayer = abyssal demons

85 Artisan = more yew cutting?

I would just like to say that the idea of training to a higher artisan level is that at higher artisan levels two things happen:
1. You have a greater chance of finding loot while completing a task.
2. At higher artisan levels you can craft better items (with the appropriate non-combat skill level and required items.) A few possible examples of what could be crafted with higher artisan levels are listed in the document. (If you don't like the specific rewards listed, well, they are just hypothetical examples.)

That's the basic idea, anyway.

I getcha, and there is nothing wrong with the concept as.. a concept, but it just doesn't work as a skill (imo). The incentives you mention don't feel like 'skill' incentives they feel more as though it should be being done as a mini-game. Perhaps this is because of the lack of preparation time, or perhaps it would just never work... Idk.

That said, of all of these ideas it has the best potential. I would still vote no for it in a poll in its current state though.
