Well, I thought i'd pipe up for the first time in a long time...
the main problems with LS in RS2 were:
1- teams could crash and take over worlds where someone was soloing / during.
2- too many people leeched drops
3- whenever I gained LSP i ended up getting kicked from teams because i was getting all the drops, despite just missing a notable drop like a sigil (not that it was my fault).
4- scamming was still a big thing, especially with teams of random people
so it looks like point 1 has been dealt with
point 2 is a big pet hate of mine, why should i use super combat pots, piety and someone bowl up with a combat pot and only pray mage, i'll be using all my supplies to get them a drop.
point 3 however although fair, didn't please many teams when someone turns up with a shed load of LSP.
point 4, has not been dealt with. the only fair way to combat this would be a shard option (like RS3)
My proposal would be the basic LS system as being currently polled, but the team leader can set a threshold %age of damage to be eligible for the drop (for example a team of 5, minimum contribution 15% (determined by team leader and agreed with the team who will all be aware of the threshold requirement)). That way if your team has a tank who's unlikely to do much damage you can set the threshold low, whereas a DPS boss such as corp you can increase the threshold to prevent leachers getting loot they don't deserve.
A shard system should also be implemented for notable drops to prevent scamming, and remove the LSP element.
Oh, and one more thing, i think the boss KC should be given to the player with the most damage, and also the pet chance for them (unless they already have the pet, then it can be distributed to the 2nd most damage)
there should be no instance option in order to protect the economy as much as possible.
for this reason i voted no to LS in its current state. make some tweaks and a yes vote would follow.
