I did some testing on the defensive loss of stats of the new amulets/necklaces compared to the current amulet of fury.
Before I post my finding, I would like to say there is likely a lot of variance in the data, so do not expect the numbers to be an entirely accurate reflection. The experiment took place at the duel arena with two max combat players, one of which would use a whip to deal damage to the unarmed second player. The two features being tested were: Fury and No amulet, (to simulate the lack of defensive stats of new amulets/necklaces) 10 times each for a total of 20 total data points.
What I found was there was an average of 7 additional zeros (31 for Fury 24 for no amulet) generated by wearing the amulet of fury compared to no defensive stats of the new amulet/necklaces. What the 7 zeros represent, is the opponents attack rolling against the defense of the player and not hitting at all. Meaning you will receive more zeros while wearing an amulet of fury compared to the new amulets.
So what does it boil down to? Which amulet is better?
For most PvMers, the group consists of attackers and a tank (for GWD). Meaning that the amulet of fury will be tank oriented while the new amulets will be attacker oriented. In instances like Corp, your choice of amulets will depend on whether or not you want to deal more damage at the cost of receiving more damage and a reduction of prayer bonus vs dealing slightly less damage at the cost of receiving less damage without a reduction of prayer bonus.
For most people who do slayer, the new amulets will be a better choice of the amulet of fury due to health and inventory management not being as big of a deal as PvMing (guthans is amazing).
Anyways, that was just my little analysis on the new amulets vs the current amulet of fury. Please take all the information with a grain of salt.
