I did some testing on the defensive loss of stats of the new amulets/necklaces compared to the current amulet of fury.

Before I post my finding, I would like to say there is likely a lot of variance in the data, so do not expect the numbers to be an entirely accurate reflection. The experiment took place at the duel arena with two max combat players, one of which would use a whip to deal damage to the unarmed second player. The two features being tested were: Fury and No amulet, (to simulate the lack of defensive stats of new amulets/necklaces) 10 times each for a total of 20 total data points.

What I found was there was an average of 7 additional zeros (31 for Fury 24 for no amulet) generated by wearing the amulet of fury compared to no defensive stats of the new amulet/necklaces. What the 7 zeros represent, is the opponents attack rolling against the defense of the player and not hitting at all. Meaning you will receive more zeros while wearing an amulet of fury compared to the new amulets.

So what does it boil down to? Which amulet is better?

For most PvMers, the group consists of attackers and a tank (for GWD). Meaning that the amulet of fury will be tank oriented while the new amulets will be attacker oriented. In instances like Corp, your choice of amulets will depend on whether or not you want to deal more damage at the cost of receiving more damage and a reduction of prayer bonus vs dealing slightly less damage at the cost of receiving less damage without a reduction of prayer bonus.

For most people who do slayer, the new amulets will be a better choice of the amulet of fury due to health and inventory management not being as big of a deal as PvMing (guthans is amazing).

Anyways, that was just my little analysis on the new amulets vs the current amulet of fury. Please take all the information with a grain of salt.

Ooo, a new quest. This should be fun. :D

Original message details are unavailable.
One question that many players would like answering is whether or not pures will be able to complete Monkey Madness II. In order to answer this question, we will be polling allowing pures access to Ape Atoll without having to go through Daero's training as a part of the Monkey Madness II poll.

Don't. Just don't. We all know how this will play out if it's polled. -,-

love idea of new gems and matching jellwery!

can we get more info on balista? is it going to use javlins as we think?
are they going to be upgradeable with gem tips like bolts are?
what sort of attack speed are we looking at?
as a pvmer will they have a use at arma/sara as opposed to using acb and sheild, or or they just gona be a one trick pony to cater the range pures?

I'm happy for the onyx item sink, a lot of people here say that it is not needed, but you need to think ahead of time. In 5 years fury's might be 1m or even less then you are all going to complain how items have become worthless and that we need item sinks. Why can't we have a solution already now instead of waiting til it's a big problem?

As for the other items, they are all fine. I see a people here complaining about the damage boosts without even knowing how much the max damage will be increase by....

I am not sure how strenght calculation works for magic and range, but the melee amulet will increase the max hit by 2 hits. I highly doubt a 5% magic or range damage boost will be significant... melee can hit up to 80s with ags or fast 50s with a whip, whilst magic can hit around 40s with maxed gear , and for range, jagex could just cap Dbow damage and the range problem will be fixed.

Sounds fun to me, I love the ballista idea, and think it would be fun to get a weapon that was like hand cannon into osrs. The other items seem interesting also, but I'm not sure that they'll pass. I highly doubt the pure part will pass either.

Yes from me either way. Excited for a new quest.

Instead of using an onyx to charge the new jewellery could dragon stones be used instead? (maybe using multiple gems, e.g. 1 dragonstone = 1000 hits up to a maximum of 10 stones for 10,000 hits).

I feel that this would be better as the cost of charging the jewellery greatly outweighs the benefit of doing so. This could potentially create an item sink for dragon stones which they could really use.

@Saxo - The only quest that comes out in a long time... And yet pures choose to not finish the one's they've been given already.
Technically they did finish MM though, the "quest completed" banner came up for them.

I see no problem allowing them to do the quest, but any rewards locked behind Ape Atol should require Daero's completion.

Stop with the degradables. Everyone is going to vote no for pures but vote yes for this mess. "an uncut zenyte is made by using zenyte shards on an uncut onyx" 10000 hits boom its degraded, cmon. If that's not the dumbest thing i've ever read... If you want onyx out of the game take it out of zulrahs drop table it should have never been a drop from a monster to begin with.

I understand and agree with not revealing any plot details of the quest before release, but could skill requirements be made known in advance?

I vote no to most questions in polls but will probably be voting yes to everything in this dev blog. Looks pretty good. Thanks.
