The idea of "tailoring" and making mage robes with a skill much like the various metal armors for melee players with smithing and the dragon hide armors with crafting has the potential to be the new skill that could be incorporated into Oldschool Runescape and not turn the entire world upside down in my opinion. However if this were to be a skill certain things would need to happen such as a slight alteration to the other skills mainly magic seeing as this skill would primarily be for the mage community.

If "tailoring" became a thing however just making the robes would not yield magical properties upon them, one would have to cast one of the enchantment spells depending on the type of mage robe created. this would be the only alteration to the magic skill.

tailoring can also allow players to create their own apparel such as suits and dresses, which can provide varying bonuses. nothing too major which could break the game but more of a balance boost to all stats like the guthix prayer book but a little bit better.

As far as what materials the mage robes can be made from i do not have any ideas on that matter, But with the suit/dress idea this can give a purpose to all the silk we steal from the silk merchant in ardounge that we all inevitably acquire from training our thieving.

Also tailoring would NOT allow players to create unique or sought after robes like the wizard robe (g) set. those robes look amazing and the players who have them either took the time to find them from clue scrolls or spent the money to buy them outright.

to summarize,
-"tailoring" would allow mage player to create their robes
-enchanting spells would be used to give the robes their magical properties
-unique/sought after robes will not be able to be made with the "tailoring" skill
-not just robes will be made, also suits and dresses can be made
-various materials for the mage robes, but for other clothing silk can be used

Please disgard this idea. We're playing OSRS for a reason. Sad you can't just leave it alone. you messed up wowscape and your messing up this game.

+1

If they left it alone and never updated it, the game would be dead.

100% false! Private servers have proven you wrong countless of times and are actually still doing that.

a new skill huh?

maybe...

binding? like what happens to people who infuse rune altar/obelisk power into items rather than runestone? do we have armor sets that cause recoil damage? ranged weapons that can bind enemies for a second or a few? slightly more powerful special attacks or spells?
or maybe even the ability to negate certain types of magic damage? who knows.....
this would definitely need some tweaking on the dev side, just to keep it fair, yet useful to everyone.
heck, i bet some skiller friendly runebinds would be a nice add in, if nothing else.
fishing tools that autocook fish sometimes, pickaxes that extend the ore amount in rocks, even maybe making some non-armor clothing to do certain things for you, like destroying burnt food automatically, increasing the chance of successful (verb)ing, or just doing random cool stuff, like picking up spare change lying around for you.

feedback anyone?

The 99 Skill:
(this may sound stupid, but im quite serious. Some ideas here may not work, I understand. BUT if this in anyway sounds like a good idea, I will have done my job. )
The idea is based off of dungeoneering, but instead incorporates all new resources into actual RuneScape. Imagine a course similar to agility, except instead of obstacles to climb, you go through it and collect brand new resources(such as fish, ores, etc.). This way you can refresh old skills as well as create a new one. The catch to the resource "courses" is that everything is always spawned, BUT you can only get ONE of each resource.(This helps to fight with too many new resources entering the game) As you level, the more resources you can obtain in the course, and higher level courses become available. Each course starting you off collecting one of each resource, until higher levels. There could even be dungeons similar to slayer but based around what every one loves to get, monster drops. New monsters with brand new drops, that you could sell to an NPC for a SMALL amount exp in the "99 skill", or sell off to other players. (Such as weapons, armor, cosmetic itemsand higher chances of receiving drops at higher levels) I only mention new weapons here because lets say I wanted stay at level 5 Attack..and the only weapon versatile enough for me to train strength with is a Slayer Staff, which is a level 1 attack weapon, but still beats alot of weapons at level 5 Attack, Level 10 etc....
I call it the "99 Skill" because once you get to 99 in any skill in RuneScape, there is nothing too look forward too. But this skill takes care of that. along with new resources and areas, at higher levels, you have a SLIGHTLY higher opportunity to collect an item(such as a lobster) faster or even give 2 lobsters at once(not every time but on occasion collect 2 of one resource) While at 99 in a certain other skill.
This is very rough, I KNOW. I threw together a skill that implements ideas that I like.

Have you ever wonder what happened to your boat you bought during dragon slayer? i have an idea of a use for that ship. i think that piracy would be a cool skill, a skill that would require a party of players to train. it would require players to have certain skill levels that would help them with tasks as in this example: You sail to an enemy port where you must find/loot several chests and raid the enemy encampment while only having 5 minutes to finish until your crew is captured. One chest requires a theiving level of 15, which you have, and the next requires 55 theiving, which you don't have, so you brought your friend/ally with you and they do have 55 theiving. boom, they loot the treasure chest. also you get on your boat and you need a captian to steer and row-Strength Skill Related-- A sailor to climb to the crows nest and navagate- Agility Related- A sailor to man the cannons to fend off enemy pirate ships/other pirate crews-Range/Mage Related- A Salor to repair the mast/repair the rigging-Construction/Crafting Related. you would level up sailing by having successful raids and the reward for completion would be stronger and faster ships. you could also go further into this and make a lootshare element into this to when someone loots a chest, the whole crew gets a split of the reward. it could also have a part where you have a chance to catch rellics/valuble items with a net while sailing-Fishing Related Skill. This sounds like a cool skill idea, What do you guys think?
