Jagex is redistributing the holiday rares every year for a reason. For that exact reason.

When partyhats, santas etc was released, they weren't worth anything. They were meant to be fun items for the holiday, and thats about it, not items worth billions of gp, because in RS3 there is always a declining amount of these rares, as they were only given out during one December each (in 2001, 2002, 2003 etc).

These things can't simply be handed out in RS3, for a similiar reason why they shouldnt be discontinued in Old School. You have people stacking large amounts of these rares in OS, and now if they were to rise into the hundreds of millions price, everyone would cash them out and would over-inflate the economy badly.

The point of these events is to enjoy the event/holiday, not for what it gives you.

Very nice update, team! Was creative and enjoyable to play through. Now, to see if I can make the children sad yet again...

Again!? Is once not enough for you???

I'd like to have my own little army of snakelings to follow me around, and I need their tears for that. It's a small sacrifice for them, and really, it's for the greater good.

Just found out I cannot take anti-presents from the table after the event is over. I'm a bit disheartened by this, but perhaps it's for the best. Gnome child cannot get sad twice in one day, or the entire game as we know it may be thrown off-balance.

And they were fun holiday items. And they still are. Unlike some of the items we get now which are soon forgotten or marginal at best playing no greater role in the game. Something being discontinued does not mean it's not fun. What makes you even think that? Partyhats in RSC and RS2 were fun from the day they were released and they are still fun, over 10 years later.

I'm not saying they should release holiday item rares, I'm saying they should release rares. Some other items that are discontinued. They don't have to be holiday themed.

And I'm certainly not saying they should make the existing items suddenly discontinued.

What we're missing now is a whole set of items that are discontinued and tradeable. Some people think discontinued items are not fun, others think they're fun. So why not release them?

Are they seriously holding them back just because of jealousy? Jagex started to design the game according to Karl Marx or what?
