Not sure why everyone is getting so upset over their rares dropping, why would you invest money into something that is guaranteed to go down during its assigned event? It was said at the very start that rares will never be discontinued and that is for obvious reasons. The OSRS developers didn't want to see people hoarding thousands of partyhats and then making a quick and easy 100B cash stack from them going up in price.

Thanks for the holiday event. I felt really bad making these kids cry, to be honest.

Oh, it would've been so awesome to have a slight snowy particle effect all over the game - not as much as it is in Varrock, but just a bit. A particle effect which you can enable and disable in the settings. Maybe we will see this in the future, though.

Wait, you disagree "completely" with what? With everything I said?

If that's the case then you disagree that discontinued items add something to the game. That's simply untrue. You can not want them to the game but they add unique content to the game regardless of your opinions on them.

And it's true that many games out there have this content. It's a shame OSRS doesn't especially when the reason for that is so pitiful and devoid of any reasonable arguments.

"We don't want them to rise in price" - why not?
"Holiday items are supposed to be fun" - are they not?

Let's face it: you don't want rares because you want everyone to be able to afford one. So just jealousy and equality of outcomes through and through.
They could add them and you wouldn't have to partake in them in any way... but that's not enough. Your jealousy prevents others from enjoying the content whereas my suggestion of adding separate discontinued items would not hurt those who don't like discontinued but only benefit those who like them.

I completed the santa quest, and I didn't get the black/rainbow party hat, reindeer hat, anti-santa suit, santa suit, the scarfs and their hat counterparts, yoyo, the tree, and Marionette, am I missing something?

I got to the cut-scene where anti-santa was stopped and saved by evil bob. Does it have something to do with that?

*I did this in osrs, so does that have something to do with it?*

Hey, did you by any chance have a full inventory? If so, then Diango probably has them. I only say this because there were a few posts from players asking where the rest of their items went from holiday quests (last year, and before).

Hope this is of some help. But if not, then I'm not sure why, sorry;

Not really with everything you said, but didn't have the time to separate all the arguments.

I disagree that discontinued items add more POSITIVES than NEGATIVES to the game, but they do add something.

Do they add something unique to the game? Arguably yes, since it's not something OSRS got currently. But... Adding something which promotes greed and hoarding is something I'd consider a bad addition, just because it's unique doesn't mean it should get a free pass. Also, whilst unique in OSRS, it's still a carbon copy from RS3, meaning it's not very original.

No, there's a lack of reasonable arguments because you choose to ignore them. I'd argue that you lack experience with RS2/3 if you choose to ignore all the negatives they brought. I personally don't mind them in RS3, but that's for the reason I stated earlier... Times were different. I had plenty of opportunities to pick up all rares in RS3, some which I took and some which I didn't. I still own some in RS3, mind you.

We don't want them to rise in price - I never said that. They already do rise in price, the Blue Phats was at some point 1,2m last year. This isn't about the price, it's about game values and spirit.

Holiday items are suppose to be fun - Yes, they are. In fact, they should remain about the fun and not about the profit. If you want a big goal to strive for, get Third Age/DFH/Ely, then come back.

Also, for the things I'm suppose to face? Lmao! I got several rares in RS3 and could easily afford them in OSRS if they was in. I want everyone else to be able to afford one? No? Why would I? I don't care, just like I don't care many people can't afford an Ely.

I would partake in them, that's the problem... For many other people, that is. As for me being jealous? Lol...

They polled it, the community went against it. It's not going to happen...

Wow RS Christmas ruined. Come up with a new idea other than giving every player 2 phat sets 2 crackers and 2 santas. You can't even wear 2 phats. I have played since classic and liked the fact that the game had rares from holiday events. I remember when masks first got released collecting them in a field. Also holding onto some so I could sell at a later date. They were part of the magic of old RS. What is the point on a person having 2 phat sets??? I miss those days you are yet again ruining your game.

I think that if Jagex were to release any discontinued holiday items, then they should be untradeable as well. Holiday events are meant to be fun and celebratory, and I'm happy that I'm able to collect all the past holiday items.

If Jagex wanted to reward players for being around at this time then they can release exclusive and untradeable rares which can be used to "show off" how long you've been around and make event attendees feel special. There's no need to make these rares tradeable as they would only serve to make players rich in future simply because they attended one event, and also lower the exclusivity of rewards to players that actually attended the event since others are able to buy it if they have the money.

Hello everyone! Happy holidays all!

I loved the event jagex thanks for the fun this year and all the items! The snowy theme was very cool to see its a nice change of things, love it! But god making kids cry made me feel weird inside, but it was alright i guess after you gave them the real presents

Oh there was alot of laggy or fps drops in certain areas like near anti santa fyi
