Wait.. isn't a smoke staff OP? Unless it's wicked expensive, then people will just save for one instead of continuing to spend money on runes for fire spells because buying the staff will pay itself off in saved money eventually.

By popular demand, I've added a question to the original post for the Abyssal tentacle to have an attack style for training strength*

***;i>Question: Should the Abyssal Tentacle have an attack style for training strength?</i>

For clarity I've also added some more information on max hits, the Abyssal tentacle can hit 1 damage higher than an abyssal whip and a combination of the occult necklace and Sot* would take the max hit of Ice Barrage to 37.

Thank you Mod John C!! This brings me massive hopes that I may better my Oldschool Runescape experience on my main. Thank you for giving us mains and pures who want to use whip a chance. My fingers are crossed!

Everyone please, vote YES to Abyssal Tentacle + Strength option... Is +1 damage higher and a much needed sink a bad thing?! No. And thing of how it could revolutionize PvP! YES YES & hell yes :P

Great points Tu Pray; Old School was started as a result of endless petitions from the community wanting a 2006 server. Jagex intentionally made OSRS the oldest backup of the game they had. The full intention of the game is to be a throwback.

Personally, I think some custom updates are okay, as long as they fit the old school feel of the game. For an update to work, it has to make me think "wow, I really would have thought this was cool if it came out in 2007". The problem is that a lot of these updates don't fit the old school feel because they water down the game or make it easier (e.g. minigame teleports, automatic POH altars, NMZ). It's difficult to do, but it IS possible to add custom stuff to the game while keeping things like old school. The easiest way to keep the old school feel is to keep the game the same, however.

I started to play Old school Runescape to play the game when I most enjoyed it, with old weapons etc. What's the point if you're just going to update it with new weapons like this? It's "old school" because that's how it used to be.
