Totally agree with you, people were crying to have 07 back now 07 is here they keep pushing it out of the zone towards updates that completly change the real oldschool. People dont know what they want and it's just mixing up the good stuff into a dark hole. in a few years people will cry again to have 07. Just keep the game simple as it used to be .. it cannot please everyone yet it's how it used to be.

It is a delicate question. We need to keep OS as OS as possible but also we need to give it some new stuff to keep it from stagnating. The consensus of most people who have actually thought about this question for more than 20 seconds is to introduce new high level items which are not OP in either pvm or pking, and consume a lower level item in the process.
To be honest, jagex just seem to be strugglin' and trying to keep the game alive by rushing in some OP items that just make no sense at the end it just makes other items loose their value. In 2007, items had their values for their own reasons i want to keep them and play them as they used to be.

I agree! That is why I am voting no to this question. The Abyssal Whip is sacred, it has always been the pinnacle. If its due for an update it needs to be a well thought out and polished one. In addition I urge people to realize if this question passes the Whip will not get a second chance to be any better. This is it, whips end game/ Proud 28%er

But yes if the community does want something like this kraken tentacle I advise a down played version of John's idea.

I'd much prefer a reinvention of Spears/ Warhammer/ Javelins and put as a drop. As these are all underpowered.

I also think we lack good melee helms! Choice of Torags/ neits when not slaying.
Smoke Helm /kraken skull would have been a good idea.

1/32000 chance of nature or law rune staff from smoke devils please? maybe 1/5000 chance from the boss? :D something crazy to aim for

Wakka, thats one of the reasons I proposed a tiered system going all the way to 85. That should be the end all be all of melee weapons. Our updates should reflect that we can make changes in lower level items or underused items. Honestly I think a Dragon Warhammer would be cool as a drop. Or an item which can attack to any rune weapon and cause it to have slightly better stats serving as a level 50 tier. Proud 28%er

I thought about D Warham, but Mod John C didn't like that idea :P

Maybe a Dragon Shard that can be attached to Spears/ Javelins/Warhammers would be an eventuality? some of these items needing multiple shards to craft and at a specific location/ npc with a cost?

Something like they proposed to d boots and it narrowly failed.

With this Tentacle idea if they copy my concept they could apply it to as many items as the want. You could have fully fed Tentacle Scimmies or Rune X Bows or G Mauls etc. The fun part could be taking non used items and making their upgraded form a useful spec item. Proud 28%er

I just wanted to give a huge shout out to the creation of this dev blog. It is very well written and explains everything very well. IE max hit of barrage with new added weapon, adding 1 extra hit from the new whip. Etc its just really well written and I want you to know that I personally really appreciate this. I wish this would of happened with the poll on the godswords stab stance as well as the gwd pets. They wasn't detailed enough to explain how it would effect the game*
