"If there are aspects of this skill that seem unbalanced, we can still fix them"

The undebatable truth is that the OSRS team has been deaf and stubbornly unbending to our complaints of drop tables and balancing. We have no say in balancing the game, its left up to "the analytics team to see how much money it makes them". That's why they are waiting "for more data" for wyverns despite the undeniable truth that they are horribly overpowered.

How about stop making these kind of update and make the dam new continent you promised with PVM dung or something like that. I know it was mod reaches work and idea but common sailing who gives a dam it's another useless skill like firemaking.

Believe it or not, the devs can work on multiple things at once. The release or rejection of sailing does not change the timeline for release of Zeah at all. And a PVM dungeon will be added as well, same for sailing.

"who gives a dam it's another useless skill like firemaking. "

Potentially useful dragon items and access to the supplies for BiS items are the opposite direction from useless.

After Reach left I didnt hear a single update on Zeah on stream or reddit or whatever.

"Potentially useful dragon items and access to the supplies for BiS items are the opposite direction from useless" Clarify this for me.

as RNGgreed said They are adding this sailing crap to attract more new players or old players who want to try something new.

The update on Zeah is that the timeline hasn't been changed. Perhaps there isn't anything worth showing at the moment if concepts are still being worked on?

Potentially better than something does not make the item in question useless, so getting it won't be useless. Whips are better than dragon scimitars, so is getting 85 slayer to get whips useless?

"They are adding this sailing [crap* to attract more new players or old players who want to try something new."
Oh god the horror of trying something new

Dude I'm giving you arguments about why sailing shouldn't be added. Please do the same for your cause.

I was addressing your points, so don't distract from that

New monsters, new areas, new resources, new areas, group based content that is just as good xp as solo , potentially new storylines and areas for new quests, all locked behind something with a reason

Reasons why I see why sailing should be added.

Edit: you didn't even provide a reason why it shouldn't be added in the post I replied to

Really not understanding any arguments against Sailing. Looks like a wonderful skill. Heck, it looks like a lot more fun(which is why we play the game, is it not?) than most of our other skills. I'd rather train Sailing over burning logs thousands of times for no reason.

Really hope it passes. :)

Everything you list has absolutely nothing to do with sailing and everything to do with content we should normally get. The OSRS dev team is small and we get content very infrequently. Obviously we are all starved for content but this is not the way to do it. I sure as hell would love to have much of the content from sailing, I'm on the same side as you as far as wanting new stuff. Its just the method that this is being introduced I disagree with. The new developer is being hired for OSRS if sailing passes or not so we can still get new content at a faster pace.

If this doesn’t pass, its because of the over-skeptical people that did*’* want Zulrah, Cerberus, the slayer updates, motherlode mine, etc. - things that affected the game but also improved it and brought fresh content to keep us playng. If OSRS is to grow, then things like sailing needs to be passed. Hopefully the crybabies let it pass.

So we differ there. Glad we agree on getting new things at least.

It's all locked behind sailing, hence it has something to do with it. Tormented demons were released, dropping an incredibly valuable weapon. If I wanted to kill them, I had to do WGS. It's the same line of reasoning here, it was locked behind WGS. I see nothing wrong with doing that. Same goes for the dungeoneering rewards. People may have been angry the best weapons were locked behind a skill, but they did it anyways, and some people ended up enjoying the process (I did). It's happened before, I don't see what's wrong with doing something similar again, considering it went over well (except chaotics and the like were gamebreaking)

I don't know anything about new developers other than the two coming in should sailing pass so I can't debate you there.

Doesn't really feel like you've changed much from the original dev blogs so my opinion hasn't changed, anyone who wants to argue with it can look at my answers in those dev blogs.

This sailing definition lacks the underlying simplicity that most skills have. Most skills have a short sentence description that explains the main way one can gain experience. Here are a few examples.
Woodcutting: Cut trees.
Firemaking: light fires.
Slayer: Kill what you're told.
Fletching: Fletch range equipment.

What is sailing?
Managing a ship to explore and navigate the sea.
Exploring the sea..
That doesn't really explain what provides the XP in the skill. I suppose Ship building could provide this description but the main aspect of this proposed skill is to explore.
So I really think if you want sailing to be good, provide great content and pass the poll then you need to think what is the underlying description of sailing?
____

With these sailing dev blogs you've explained some interesting content that could be added to old school, however in their current state they're independent pieces of content.
Exploration: Sea themed raids.
Navigation: An expansion to the ship networks.
Ship Building: An expansion to construction in the form of player owner ships/ports.

Also a lot of the rewards really feel like they were going to be in zeah, for example the gemstone caverns could be a cool zeah dungeon.
RIP Forums :(
Finally we have signatures in the surprise forum update. I'm Lewis, I play Old School & I've been playing since 2005.
