The reason why people is voting no is because of the ring of death and the regen on the new necklaces, that will crash the price of sgs and guthans!! thats why everyone who owns the 2 major regen items in rs is voting no

I dont think that a new skill is the way to improve os...

I think tat a new skill almost forces people to train it as nobody wants a skill to be level 1.. i like the concept of sailing, but maybe in a way a new skill doesn't have to be introduced? in a way that it could combine skills..

such as making the boat through construction (different con levels unlock you the ability to make different boats.)
certain strength / agility levels will make the boat more controllable and therefor you will be able to sail to other locations.

but this also allows more skills to be updated e.g. you could make certain smithing levels to create items for the boat, such as anchors.. (maybe in certain places you need a certain anchor to get too.. e.g. mithril+ anchor to stop the ship in ardy.. making the anchors themself untradeable to encourage people to train smithing.)

fishing could be included by making certain fishing levels for deep sea fishing, which would demand more things to fish, such as squid ect.. (squid could be level 65 fishing for example and heal 12hp non cooked or 16 cooked.) this would again encourage people to train there fishing and cooking skills..

another idea would to be at a certain level (60+) construction, once unlocking the ability to make a bit enough ship, you could opt to then make your ship you home..

I like the idea of sailing but as i feel like most people wouldn* want to have to train another skill, where as doing it this way would encourage people to gain more experience in there current skills and still have the excitement of sailing and a new way of exploring runescape.

you could even introduce a sequence of new quests where you have to work for a sailor and work your way up, e.g. start as a cabin boy in the 1st 'novice' quest, then work as a sailor in the 'intermediate' quest, and then as a ship captain in the 'hard' quest to enable the ability to make your 1st ship.

sorry for the really long message :)

Thank you.
I invested my whole bank a few days ago into Guthans, and now i had to sell my Guthans for 7,5m. And it's decreasing in value even more as i am typing this.
I bought it for 15m, so i lost half of my Bank due to this Update.
Thank you Jagex. Make the poor even more poor, take the money from the poor Players.

Thank you.
I am really disappointed, i wasn't expecting this from you.
I invested so much time in making money to afford a Guthan's Set and now this....
Wow...

I don't think the biggest question is if the sailing details are good enough.
It's more like how we want this game.
I really want this to be a fresh game and be more populare.
But of course there is always people who thinks everything new isn't what this game should look like.
I don't really know but if I would decide,
I would just say slower please osrs team you must have better connection to the community.
Everything came really fast without any real votes about it.
Osrs team takes more and more responsibility.
They are getting used in there position and wanna make some action.
If I was them I would maybe do the same but I dont think It's time to change this game this much in this way.
I know it's hard when lots of people don't want to respond to sailing

Will this update bring more fun to everyone?

It's still pretty messy how to train the skill how I see it,
I though from start the sailing skill would more be everything u do on the ship will be sailing.
This is a very big update that the rewards of everything feels like makes biggest sence.
I wanna vote yes to the sailing skill idea. But no to be released early next year like this.
I'm playing osrs for fun. I want more stuff made that helps improve the quality of the game.
-Don't forget all problemes can be solved but it will always come new ones.

I have an idea for sailing!

As a reward from exploration, there should be tiered gear that makes your sailing be at a slightly better rate (or a higher chance at getting better random generated areas).

The gear could be tier'd based on your sailing level (or total level), and make you look like an awesome pirate (peg leg please).

The tier'd gear could be randomly obtained when looting chests and you have a chance of getting any tier'd level gear at any level, but the higher tier'd gear would be rarer.

Much like how you can obtain the giant pouch from the monsters from the abyss even if you don't have the rc level to use them yet. (and you could also get worse tier'd gear at later levels- it could be random)

I also think that the pirate hook should make an appearance in the sailing skill in a valuable way. It costs a lot of tokens from the brimhaven course and its mostly cosmetic, but I think this skill could give the pirate hook a use and make the pirate city of brimheaven a rejuvinated area :D (maybe make brimhaven a place to dock your ship?)

The skill looks interesting but..

MORE melee content? Good grief, give it a rest already . They already have the highest PvP dps at max levels, they already have the best equipment variety, the most reliable KO weps, the best prayers and are getting two entirely new weapons in a single update. They do not need anymore for a looong time.

The dragon crossbow will be useless if it doesn't have a decent spec and the magic brace will not help with mage's lack of equipment variety and severe item dependency issues. The glove slot is not the problem.. and if the "BiS offense bonuses" is also referring to a damage boost, then that just makes things soo much worse.

Please don't bundle the melee content poll in with the range/mage content and provide more detail as we NEED to know the stats that they will have.

Ur in a dead clan.

I'm not in any clan?
OSRS Mage Tank.

Believe magic to only be for support? Think again. It's just as valid of a Pking style as melee and range is.

ZAKI PL SAYS:
I can already see too many people are voting NO. We won't get a new skill other than sailing 4EVER if it won't pass so i seriously hope people will stop being PVM and PVP fanatics and let us skillers do something new :/

Seems they need to work more on current skill content for people who want 200m+ xp but not too much of an advantage to 99+

The Sailing skill is sounding a lot like how I imagined it in this DevBlog.

Being able to move your ship similarly to how you would be able to move your character is something I imagined years ago, and seems a nice way to move your ship around.

Being able to disembark and go onto land is also nice.

One thing I would like added for the Gemstone caves is to require an agility level to explore deeper into the caves.

Sailing sounds great.

Other than Hunter, Woodcutting, Smithing, and Crafting, will I need Construction or other skills trained to make full use of Sailing?

Since we will be able to ferry other players to areas they may not have the sailing level to reach, can something be built in as an anti-scam measure, to ensure those who pay get to their destination without losing their GP, and so players who accept GP will be within the rules?

I'm looking forward to this skill and I really hope it passes the poll.

Thanks!
Hi.
