I really think you're missing out on a lot if you simply make this a sea-version of Dungeoneering as far as the explorable terrain goes. You should make it at least a possibility to sail around the waters of the existing RuneSc... Gielinor, and for once sail the distances to islands and such yourself and not just (essentially) teleport from one place to another. This would include having being able to embark and disembark on piers and other suitable places around the world.

As you'd have completed quests up to points where places become available to you, you'd be able to sail to them too. I want to sail up and down River Lum, revisit Crandor on my own boat, and most of all explore the previously undiscovered outer borders of the map.

How to stop players from sailing to areas they shouldn't be allowed to, you ask? Either bring up dialogue when they cross a certain latitude/longitude, saying: "I don't have the charts for this area yet," or prevent the player from disembarking, saying, "I don't think I'm allowed to disembark here."

Yay more forced content.

I'm pretty sure this was supposed to be old school? And while I know that's such a simple argument but it's realistically also one of the truest. It's disgusting to me as a 10+ year vet to see waste dev. time. Just look at deaths, the death mechanics went from being a temporary fix to being a part of the game and things like zul-rah (of which across my accs I have ~1500 KC) I've made more there in the time I spent at other places tenfold. There's glitches everywhere, where you just accept it ... the invisibility bug at the duelling arena for one example. Duplications that are swept under the table and acted as if they didn't happen so players would be silenced.

I just felt I would say something even though I FEEL i'll be 'attacked' by other players or you mods just will shoot anything down and keep posting trying to maintain a positive note on an update players didn't even want in 2009 . If anything - why make it a new skill? Why make people such as myself feel FORCED to train it ? I've spoken with friends in clan chats that i've met on twitch and people i've known for a while and most agree with me. There are good concepts but as a whole skill it's just dense.

I guess we all have to quit dreamin' sometime, and I know it's a business to you people and you want people to keep feeding into the membership system aswell.... people who are focused on nothing but 'expwaste', playing the game for hours just for a number .. ive been there. I just hope it's the dream of sailing ending and not OLD-SCHOOL. No to sailing, on all accounts.

I make this message because I want you to see not everyone is gonna come at sailing with a belligerent mindset. I do see it's good points, but I just feel it doesn't fit in this game. That's how I feel and I stick to my guns. :)

Incorrect. The word Oldschool is subjective. To some, it means one thing. To another, it means something else. To me, it honestly just means the old combat system and the graphics(although that 2008 HD update was pretty sweet). Nothing more, nothing less. Oh, and no Treasure Hunter/Solomen's Store.

I remember playing in 2005-2007 and Jagex was cranking out a new skill every year. And, in my opinion, that was great. A new skill(especially one like Sailing) offers up *LOADS* of new content for us to enjoy. It's no fun playing a game that doesn't change at all. That gets old and boring.

Brand new content that is OSRS-exclusive allows us to be our own game and attract many new players. I feel that with Zeah coming, Sailing will also be a wonderful addition to the game.
