Exactly, but look at the majority of the comments. What would you rather have, cause right now all I see is new content getting suggested by the devs, community pushes it away and demands recycled pre-eoc content. I just don't understand it.


I understand what you're saying but in all honesty, everyone needs to be offering input on this (those that want it and those that don't) but we certainly don't need to say 'don't poll it' or 'just do it' because that begins the end of player input, IMO.

Right now, there simply isn't enough info on sailing to say yes or no (and jagex has offered right here in this devblog that another devblog, with more detail, is coming next week).

Anyone feeling 'very strongly' in either direction, should be working on getting other players to support their position (not trying to bypass the one thing that protects this game from the travesties of the original game; the polls).

In the Q&A, the idea of hunting/killing whales was brought up and it seemed to get dismissed a bit.
Frankly, I think a Runescape version of Moby **** would make for an excellent boss that high level sailors can pursue. Imagine how much prayer exp the bones of a WHALE would give!

The real skill would disappoint most of us who have that kind of imagination and expectations.

This skill would only make sense if:
- the entire sailing thing would NOT be instanced. Making it instanced and randomly generated is like releasing a reskinned dungeoneering (the funny thing being augury and rigour would also come from it)
- you could sail freely anywhere in the existing world (not gonna happen because of quest restrictions)
- there would be sailing-based sea bosses that would drop items used by other skills (similar to how DKS drop dragon hatchet and the rings)
- there would be unique (non-instanced) fishing/diving spots out at sea
- some hunter skill prey at sea
- some slayer task mobs at sea (not instanced)
- ability to use your ship as a moving second bank with 10~200 slots depending on ship type.
- hauling missions for NPCs for xp/loot (don't be scared to make the training grindy, all the other skills are repetitive grind anyway)
- treasure trails have sea locations included in them
- sea based activities introduce a new useful feature to the game, such as fishing at sea or killing sea monsters gives the chance to get some item (a devious piece of mud) that upon consumption doubles all xp gained for 5 minutes, for example.
- some more ways to make sailing useful for the rest of the game (i'm lazy)

Just letting u selfish ungrateful noobs know that, should sailing vote fail, u can count on me and MANY others that we will guarantee dungeoneering or any summoning skill in the future would fail in the poll also.

Dungeoneering is an epic failure as a skill. Summoning is an even greater failure, the charms collecting and crab busting just for charms, so much lol on those methods. Rest assure if u lot vote no on sailing, a great deal of us will remember to vote no on those 2 boring skills also.

Way too much toxic players in the game atm, this shouldve been just added without polling, only until we have 75% rejection should sailing not be added. All these noobs want these days is to destroy rs and make it a pre eoc clone

Make it so players can buy and sell their ships at a dock, could possibly make the skill more profitable

allow players to enlist others into a voyage which they can form fleets and/or make a crew on one ship

add a variety of ships like merchants, pirates, and hybrids (exploration or scouting ship)

possibly add pvp areas? or something like skulling? Also setting out in like a pirate ship would automatically 'give you a skull'

You seem to demonstrate that 'toxic player' quite well (what with your coercion tactic of threatening to vote no in something else as a means of getting peeps to vote in favour of something you do want).

Might get you cookies amongst your 'friends' but I don't see it as a means of convincing others to vote your way (I mean seriously, if they don't need to poll this then you wont mind them just doing that '*** eoc clone' you mention without a poll as well, right?)
