Spreading Ourselves Thin

The community is already so thin you can see through it. The cliques include (but are not limited to): Skiller, PvM, and PvP. With this in mind, it is important to recognize the effects of releasing developer blogs for several large updates within a short time frame. Not only will this further the severity of the current RuneScape apartheid, it will disband the community as a whole. This is a warning: you are spreading yourselves thin . It will not pay off.

Pressing Matters

Currently, there are more pressing matters at hand than trivial updates such as Deadman Mode, namely the network issues. While as a community we realize these take time to resolve and that they require a special network team, we also know that we cannot afford updates that will be drastically affected by these issues.

Dead Updates - What Happened?

Aside from the obvious communal effects, releasing more 'new' updates too soon causes other content to die out slowly but completely. This, as we know, happened when the Zulrah boss was released. The game needs to be analyzed before we delve any further into this Chasm of Constant Content. There are many areas of the game, including skills, minigames, bosses, PvP, which are severely lacking in many respects, yet have received little to no attention.

Examples include (but are not limited to):
Bosses - it took many months for these to receive any sort of attention, and when they did it was shoddy at best. The KBD, KQ, and Zilyana are among the few bosses who received any sort of buff.
Skilling - how many skills can you count that have no milestone worthy of achieving (aside from the skillcape)? I can count many.

Final Point

Why can't content be more well thought-out before release? There's no excuse to have to buff content simply because it wasn't good upon release.

I know you made a beautiful point at the top that I failed to read, but this one caught my eye. We are thinking out our content on this forum...Duh?! I don't normally throw obvious insults at people, but god man you are a dense one.

I'd be interested in a developer blog outlining how non pvp areas of the game would be useful in deadman mode, for example skilling.

Also I have various questions about trading in these worlds, would trading be allowed? would the GE be allowed? etc
RIP Forums :(
Finally we have signatures in the surprise forum update. I'm Lewis, I play Old School & I've been playing since 2005.

Your head is think, but it's okay I brought my hammer. People will die. Clans will kill each other. Whether in the wilderness or on a deadman mode world. The oldschool team is giving US, their community, the decision to add an ENTIRELY separate PVP setting. NOW! Listen, Zeah is an expansion to the main game, the main worlds that everyone plays on. This will directly lessen the population on Gilenor and add it to Zeah this is, as far as we've heard, a PVM expansion. Deadman mode is our PVP expansion, offering what Zeah does to the PVM'ers and skillers, PVPer's get with Deadman mode.

I'm a skiller. I personally enjoy bank standing, doing farm runs and chopping trees. I don't really care at all about PvM. I can't pk at all, I can't win even once. That's why I'm the skiller in our clan. This game mode is about strategy and teamwork, not for PvP people. They can't survive on their own, it isn't a 1v1 like they are used to.
It is just a new fresh perspective how to play runescape with some new rules applied.

Zeah can be interesting with new PvM content but it pretty stays the same. Fishing stays fishing + running to bank + repeat with as purpose xp/money. New modes give a lot more insight on how all the skills can be used for.
I'm not against Zeah, I voted yes for it, FYI.

My response to the update initially was a solid no, I'm now dwindling from your response. It's definitely an interesting way to play Runescape from a whole new perspective instead of the traditional grind - skill, bank, repeat. I would try this mode if it were released but I highly doubt I would pay another subscription for it.
But thanks for that insight and making me see I shouldn't just blindly dismiss the idea.

Point? Have you read through some of the posts that are arguing for DDM?

Honestly, if these guys are even serious about bringing in something like DDM, the least they could do is put some serious thought into the mechanics behind the game, rather than serving whatever ******** this is. It's a complete joke.
You can't just "DDM" runescape like you did with ironman, it just doesn't work.
If you're going to bring in DDM, it has to be a completely different game.
There needs to be certain restrictions to the game, i.e:

- limits on world populace at any given time.

- restrictions on a person tendency of being attacked , i.e unique timers( to counter mob killing)

-resource adjustments ( x1 -> noted form qty )

- a complete rehaul on weaponry/itemisation seeing as many items are sourced from PVM.

- none of this losing levels ********, if they still want to go with penalty's then do a ******* temporary debuff for christs sake, don't force people to grind exp over again.

even with those things being said, there's still the whole topic on :
How will this feature affect the rest of the original RS servers? DDM is proposing a completely alternate serving to cater for the PVP community. Ironman is fitted within the original servers, this isn't. This is a splitting off between communities.
