What do we got for melee?
Tentacle, Serpentine, Crystal halberd, 3a ls, D defender, ardy cloak, Zerk (i), leaf bladed sword, Treas/tyranical, cheaper bgs specs, crystal halberd.

Let me correct that list for you:

Tentacle Whip
Serpentine Helm
Crystal Halberd
Third-age Longsow*d
Dragon Defender
Ardy Cloak
Berserker Ring (i)
Warrior Ring (i)
Tyrannical Ring
Treasonous Ring
Tyrannical Ring (i)
Treasonous Ring (i)
Blessed Saradomin Sword
Bandos Godsword
Saradomin Godsword
Armadyl Godsword
Zamorak Godsword
Zamorakian Spear
Zamorak Hasta
Dragon Hasta
(All other Hastas)
Bandos Armor
Bandos Boots Range Defence

To be fair, a lot of all updates (mostly range/mage though) were balancing ones that released items so that each would have similar options for certain situations. For melee, the Treasonous and Tyrannical rings; for range/mage, the Slayer Helm and Salve Amulet imbues. You get the idea.

Hoping Jagex responds about those absurd specials sooner rather than later. Glad to see others are taking notice of it.

I'm re-posting this here and adding:

The Abyssal Sire has been doomed to worthless content. This is a cool boss my friends & I would love to vote yes to, but we simply have to vote NO. The Abyssal Whip will become heavily devalued for two useless weapons: The Abyssal Dagger and Abyssal Bludgeon.

The Abyssal Dagger is completely useless and is outclassed by every weapon it is compared to. Don't believe me? SEE MY ARGUMENT BELOW. The Special Attack is not only worthless, but makes no sense. A heavy impact bleed would make more sense to the Bludgeon, but instead we've been given identical Special Attacks? How LAZY does this team get? Please for the final time; reconsider?

I honestly hope Abyssal Sire goes to the wasted content bin otherwise. We don't need worthless items. Thanks.

I'd like to request that the Abyssal Dagger be reworked before poll. In its current state, the Abyssal Dagger is useless content. Please refer to below:

Abyssal Dagger
+75 Stab
+70 Strength

VS

Staff of The Dead
+70 Crush
+72 Strength
+Magic Fang UPGRADE: Combat spells now have a 25% chance of inflicting venomous poison on the opponent.

In short, the Abyssal Dagger is a bastardized downgrade of weapons we already have. Not to mention the alternatives are highly obtainable at little to no price. The only two uses I see here are:

1. Mains training Strength, but why? They can buy a Dragon Scimitar and obtain literally the identical EXP rate. That, or a Staff of The Dead and obtain a better EXP rate.

2. Pure PvP, but again, why? It would be more so for cosmetic purpose than anything else.

In it's current state, the Abyssal Dagger is Mod Alfred's wasted legacy. I highly recommend you reconsider these laughable stats. I also recommend adding a Special Attack. I find it completely inexcusable if you planned on releasing it without one. I'd even add insult to injury by pointing out; none of this content is NEW! It's all reused ideas from RS3. So do us one favor, please? This is borderline lazy. One last thing for you all reading this to consider... Why not just buy a Dragon Scimitar for 70k? It's identical EXP and has a Special Attack.

Dragon Scimitar
+67 Slash
+66 Strength

End rant, JK one final note. Are we really going to release this terrible Abyssal boss with no useful reward? On top of crashing Abyssal Whips for no other incentive? This blog has severely disappointed me.

~~ Abyssal Dagger Rework: Proposal. ~~

Please first read my post above. As you see, the Abyssal Dagger desperately needs a rework to avoid becoming irrelevant. I don't believe players should vote on a boss that both lacks any new drops, and also highly devalues the Abyssal Whips at the same time. Below, I've posted my proposed stats & special attack for the dagger.

Abyssal Dagger: Requires 70 Attack.
Stab: +80
Strength: +74

Special Attack: Abyssal Puncture.
(Drains 50% of the Special Bar.)

The user aggressively lunges two attacks forward offering double accuracy.

Why these stats:

I've chosen these stats to make the Abyssal Dagger a slightly weaker alternative to the Zamorakian Hasta. Most PvM'ers will still prefer Z'Hasta's slightly better +5 Stab, +1 Strength, +13 Defences, and +2 Prayer bonuses. The Abyssal Dagger will still be a potent tool in PvM considering its Special Attack, which also makes it great for PvP!

Is it overpowered?

No, the Dragon Dagger Special Attack (Puncture) deals an extra 15% damage, and adds an extra 25% accuracy. The Dragon Dagger also offer 4x Special Attacks. The Dragon Dagger Special Attack should hit the same, or higher, considering the Abyssal Dagger will not offer any increased Strength. The Abyssal Dagger also only offers 2x Special Attacks, but is great for PvP situations, and would truly make Hybridding FUN.

"The abyssal bludgeon is a 2-handed crush weapon dropped by the abyssal sire. It will require 70 attack and 70 strength to equip. With a high crush attack and the same attack speed as an abyssal whip, the abyssal bludgeon will be the highest DPS crush weapon in Old School RuneScape."

Knowing little information they give us it's safe to assume the weapon will have Strength on par or better than the Abyssal Whip. The whip can currently do 50 damage with max stats so that's what i'm basing these #'s off:

With the special attack mentioned you would be able to hit this:

0.0s - Initial Spec/hit - 100% accuracy increase, uses 50% spec . Does 50 damage
1.2s - 10 damage bleed
2.4s - 10 damage bleed
2.4s - Second hit with Bludgeon, random hit 0-50dmg
3.6s - 10 damage bleed
4.8s - 10 damage bleed
4.8s - Third hit with Bludgeon, random hit 0-50dmg
6.0s - 10 damage bleed (Another 50 damage done)

100 Damage in 6 seconds..... plus 2 more hits with the weapon with 50% Special attack this would be a potential 200 damage in 6 seconds, sounds like you are being piled by a Clan when in reality it's just someone using 50% Special Attack of a level 70 weapon. The bleed is the speed of darts and is guaranteed to hit. Goodluck if two people use the spec on you lol.

Then you could do the exact same thing again if you wanted to, alternatively you can switch to another weapon like a Dragon Dagger or Armadyl Godsword immediately after you do your first hit with the Bludgeon Special Attack. This would make the damage be even more than 100 in 6 seconds.

Did the same person who thought this was 'balanced' also write the Zulrah/Wyvern drop table?

Is it April Fools again???

Lastly thanks for being so vague not telling us the exact Crush Attack and Strength bonus and expecting us to vote on it..? Are you serious?

@Moonchild,

Hitting a 50 is 1/50 assuming you hit. This scenario isn't highly probable. I am upset that this Special Attack perfectly suits the Bludgeon, but makes no sense to the Dagger. Identical Special Attacks is lazy. The Abyssal Dagger also has no stats to warrant use. I wish Jagex would consider the Special Attack I posted above. The additional stats are completely optional, but identical Special Attacks isn't. At least it isn't for my vote.

If the Old School team has a change of heart to reconsider... Just buff the Dagger into a hybrid's tool. The Abyssal Dagger's Special should dragon 50% in exchange for double accuracy. This would not exceed the damage output of a Dragon Dagger, but still would make it extremely valuable to all classes. Adding the extra stats makes it worth using over Dragon Scimitar, Staff of The Dead, and also makes the Z hasta worth using over the Dagger in PvM scenarios.

The bludgeon sounds alot like the Saradomin sword on crush mode (A 2h whip speed str weapon). I'm not convinced that this is the right path to take with this weapon.

Cerebus is a wee bit better lowering the required level a wee bit. I feel Jagex needs to agree and stick to a number though... I'm sick of having a level and then it changing every week.... ******************. Don't get bullied by the over represented max players in forums.. lower level players do care and want to experience updates, some of us just have jobs, families and like vitamin D.

The dagger seems a bit like a brackish blade with an extra 3 str bonus. Doesn't feel like a 70atk weapon. Make it 65atk or make it shortbow rapid speed with maybe 82atk bonus and 41str bonus. Something new.

A bit surprised to see a unnecessary sink for Ranger and infinity boots. perhaps an optional fee to a npc to craft the new boots. This making a more needed money sink.

Good to see an update none the less.
