I'd like to request that the Abyssal Dagger be reworked before poll. In its current state, the Abyssal Dagger is useless content. Please refer to below:


Abyssal Dagger
+75 Stab
+70 Strength

VS

Staff of The Dead
+70 Crush
+72 Strength
+Magic Fang UPGRADE: Combat spells now have a 25% chance of inflicting venomous poison on the opponent.


In short, the Abyssal Dagger is a bastardized downgrade of weapons we already have. Not to mention the alternatives are highly obtainable at little to no price. The only two uses I see here are:

1. Mains training Strength, but why? They can buy a Dragon Scimitar and obtain literally the identical EXP rate. That, or a Staff of The Dead and obtain a better EXP rate.

2. Pure PvP, but again, why? It would be more so for cosmetic purpose than anything else.

In it's current state, the Abyssal Dagger is Mod Alfred's wasted legacy. I highly recommend you reconsider these laughable stats. I also recommend adding a Special Attack. I find it completely inexcusable if you planned on releasing it without one. I'd even add insult to injury by pointing out; none of this content is NEW! It's all reused ideas from RS3. So do us one favor, please? This is borderline lazy. One last thing for you all reading this to consider... Why not just buy a Dragon Scimitar for 70k? It's identical EXP and has a Special Attack.

End rant, JK one final note. Are we really going to release this terrible Abyssal boss with no useful reward? On top of crashing Abyssal Whips for no other incentive? This blog has severely disappointed me.

~~ Abyssal Dagger Rework: Proposal. ~~

Please first read my post above. As you see, the Abyssal Dagger desperately needs a rework to avoid becoming irrelevant. I don't believe players should vote on a boss that both lacks any new drops, and also highly devalues the Abyssal Whips at the same time. Below, I've posted my proposed stats & special attack for the dagger.


Abyssal Dagger: Requires 70 Attack.
Stab: +80
Strength: +74

Special Attack: Abyssal Puncture.
(Drains 50% of the Special Bar.)

The user aggressively lunges two attacks forward offering double accuracy.


Why these stats:

I've chosen these stats to make the Abyssal Dagger a slightly weaker alternative to the Zamorakian Hasta. Most PvM'ers will still prefer Z'Hasta's slightly better +5 Stab, +1 Strength, +13 Defences, and +2 Prayer bonuses. The Abyssal Dagger will still be a potent tool in PvM considering its Special Attack, which also makes it great for PvP!

Is it overpowered?

No, the Dragon Dagger Special Attack (Puncture) deals an extra 15% damage, and adds an extra 25% accuracy. The Dragon Dagger also offer 4x Special Attacks. The Dragon Dagger Special Attack should hit the same, or higher, considering the Abyssal Dagger will not offer any increased Strength. The Abyssal Dagger also only offers 2x Special Attacks, but is great for PvP situations, and would truly make Hybridding FUN.

I've posted a rework for the Abyssal Dagger above. Could I have your opinion? A weapon with ultra-attack stats would be too overwhelming. Here, I've provided a weapon that compares to the Z'Hasta as Jagex wanted, while also making it extremely relevant. This will retain the value of the item and make it worth adding.

If we don't consider something like this, I will vote NO to the boss as a whole. The current dagger and boss is trash for the top post arguments reasons.

I've tweeted my rework rant & proposal to Mod Ash, John C, and the Old School Runescape pages. I hope to hear back from them. I'd love to see if they can share my feelings toward this content. I don't want to see it wasted. Alfred worked hard and the players should enjoy the efforts.

So.. You're suggesting a weapon that is essentially a slightly weaker version of a Zamorakian Hasta with a mediocre special attack?

The only people I can see buying this are pures who cannot use a hasta due to the controlled/defence options. There are few situations where a pure must use a stab weapon, so I can't even see this being particularly useful for them. The re balanced dagger may be a decent strength training weapon, but that is about it as far as I can determine.

We do not have room for more stab weapons at level 70 without devaluing existing weapons. The Zamorakian hasta already occupies the "high stab accuracy" niche and any attempts to supplant it will likely fail a poll.

I believe an abyssal longsword would have more overall utility and appeal, provided that it is balanced appropriately. We do not have a high slash accuracy/strength weapon with an attack speed in between that of a whip and a godsword at this time. This is a niche that can be filled by a level 75 weapon, the abyssal longsword.

Great idea! I really like the idea of a hellhound boss, but will you be able to be assigned red dragons? Because right now you cannot be assigned red dragons, but you should be able to be assigned red dragons, because they are fun to kill. I am looking forward to the hellhound boss release.

I was extremely keen on this big slayer update, and everything in the blog seems awesome until you actually start thinking about things.
Firstly, the boss slayer tasks needs to be scraped straight away. In a way all its going to do is make everyone who kills corporeal beast extremely unhappy, knowing that every single kill they're going to get outhit by someone on task. Secondly, depening on how frequent and large these tasks are, all GWD and bossing items are going to spiral down in price even more, if anything, bossing needs to be made harder, or stay exxactly where it is. It seems as if every aspect of the game is getting easier and easier with every update.

The hellhound boss and Abyssal Boss. Firstly, it requires 85 Slayer to kill a boss that drops less valuable items than a new boss that requires no Slayer level that is assigned frequently?
In other words, the hellhound boss NEEDS i high level requirement. The Abyssal Dagger too just seems useless, maybe a pure will use it in place of a hasta.

There is no need to bring broad darts into the game, once again, it's just the game getting easier. Faster, cheaper range experience with an extremely OP PvM blowpipe? Remember when range used to be a bit slow to level up......and a bit more worthwhile.......

Now with the boots from Hellhound, i don't understand why it uses Infinity boots, Ranger boots, and Dragon boots?
Here's a suggestion, to make more sense, why not use wizard boots, as they are the Ranger boots counterpart, and instead of making 100k best in slow melee boots even better, find an alter*nitive such as making dragon boots a 1/512 or making another use for them. Or better yet, use bandos boots for this update, as they have always been borderline useless.

Alot of things need to change if this Slayer update goes ahead, maybe just a bit more thought being added in, along with not just dumping more monsters in the Stronghold Slayer Cave, like wheres the imagination in that?
