That's just part of the game, always has been and always will be. As long as it's not a drastic change we should be ok.

You already can extend them, they go from 10-20 to around 60. This is from Duradel though.

I think it should be scrapped and replaced with something else. Our discussion has shown that there isn't much room for a new stab weapon without devaluing existing content. If the dagger is made stronger, it will devalue whip/hasta/ss. If it stays the same, it will have very limited use and may as well not be made at all in my opinion.

As for what could be added instead... I'm not certain because high level melee is saturated already. Either a level 70-75 primarily crush based weapon or a whip upgrade that doesn't affect kraken tentacle too much.


I wouldn't mind the idea being scrapped, I assumed we were talking as if this is pretty much set in stone as they have the graphic for it already. As I posted to someone else, I can't see the big use of a crush weapon atm, unless you can think of one?

I can't think of a whip upgrade that will not heavily affect the tentacle off the top of my head.

You are the main man when it comes to balancing. I was just saying wonderful job on the last dev blog for your Ring of the Gods move. And now this?? Are you kidding me man.

BOSS SLAYER

This update would be fantastic and I would most certainly vote yes if it remained a SLAYER update. This means previously slayable bosses only, not just a goddamn open book to any boss. That means you could get the added benefit of 15% bonus to corporeal beast, zulrah, bandos, zilyana, all of these bosses that aren't even slayer task. How is that a slayer update? Its more like a slap in the face to everyone who has done PvM until now and earned their banks the hard way, without the 15% bonus of a slayer mask, which by the way is a HUGE bonus. Now at corp kids will be wearing full bandos + slayer mask instead of forcing void. GF void boats as melee void is now NOT NEEDED FOR ANYTHING. And its more like a 18% boost because you have to think of the slayer helms 15% plus bandos' strength bonus stacking on top of that as well. That would ruin corp FFA, ruin even team corp. It would swing things so unfairly towards whoever was on a boss task.

Honestly I couldn't even finish the dev blog before writing this, which is quite unusual for me.

You have a NO vote from a big PvM'er, as this is completely over powered.

SLAYER HELM AT ZULRAH??? ITS ALREADY SO DAMN EASY AS IS.

I would expect it to be useful for some kind of future content, but currently we don't have a great need for a crush weapon. We don't have a powerful primarily crush weapon, but we also don't have anywhere where it would be useful to have.

I just don't see the dagger being valuable long-term. I know we have the graphic for it, but I think we can come up with something more useful.

Looking great Jagex! Nice work and nice ideas. I'm happy to see nice item sinks, I also prefer those so those items will still have an 'okay' value. Dragon axes needed them. Also Jad pet looks sick, but hard. I hope you will choose a proper ratio for the pet drop, it looks hard for me imo.

I actually still got some questions about the abyssal dagger, does it has a spec? It is balanced enough with hasta/lower tier weapons?

I also think the herb pack is very expensive tho, im not really into slaying. But dayum, that is alot of points.

Great things Jagex keep it up!

On a related note, I did a few calculations in regards to task frequencies.

If task lists are unchanged and every task became equally probable for assignment, an efficient player using Nieve would incur a net loss in points. They would average 19.2 points/task (24 if elite diary done) but cancel tasks 51.7% of the time. This difference would be more striking with Duradel, where players would be cancelling tasks 62% of the time.

If task frequencies are changed, some junk tasks will need to be removed to account for changes in net points/task.

It's a shame you didn't finish, the rest of it has some great stuff. You did bring up some good points though like a few others have, especially about corp.

Yes I agree. If they dagger has to come out though I like the stats it has instead of taking away from the whip. I wonder if the boss and the dagger will be polled separately and if the dagger fails, what it will be replaced with.

Also those are interesting numbers in your next post, thanks for sharing them.
