A lot of
people are saying that it's not oldschool enough
. I have some suggestions which might make it feel more oldschool.

.
Change the blue menu bars at the top. Perhaps just change the colour/theme of them to maybe match the colour of the scroll, with a faint pattern. Or a faint red colour? I don't know. I think that blue colour and theme is reminiscent of rs3 for a lot of people.

.
Get rid of the fancy capitalized letters of each title (the ones with the red scarf banner behind them). I think this looks over complicated and reminds people of rs3 too much.

.
Hiscores. Put back the skills on the left hand side. The drop down menu for selecting skill hiscores is finnicky and also very much like rs3. Keep the hiscores core design similar to how it is now. To keep the oldschool feel I think it needs a slightly ruffed up look to it. That's not to say it can't look new and attractive at the same time. Maybe just tone down on the metallic, regid perfect look of the buttons like search etc. The left and right page switching on hiscores might be another thing people are finding to rs3-like and not oldschool enough.

.
Some of the headings are in a bold, orange (I think?), metalic, pop out type style. For sign up buttons etc, I understand you might want to keep it, but for headings on hiscores (the rank, name, level, total xp header) it seems not oldschool enough. It's too fancy. It's too distracting. Simplicity is key.

In my honest opinion, I feel that the OSRS page has that nostalgic feeling for most players and should not really be changed. At least if you will be changing things for comparability reasons, at least keep the design the same. A graphical update of the webpage is far from necessary.

Initially I was very against this idea as the old Runescape website was a key feature to me, and to many others as it's the first thing you see. You're instantly hit by nostalgia and taking away that nostalgia hits quite hard, as you can see from many other people against the new website design.

Looking at it again from a company's point of view changes my mind about keeping it the same. The main thing Jagex wants to do is to bring in new players that are interested in playing the old school version of the game, and because the website it the first thing you see, I don't think they want to alienate a potential audience by having an outdated website design, to be quite frank.

It will be a shame to not be greeted by the same website I was greeted with as a child playing this game, but you have to look at what will be best to entice new players into the game.

As for my opinions on the new website design, I would remove the large capitalised letters for headings such as "Welcome". I know it fits with the new logo but it's really quite bold and doesn't really go with the rest of the website design. I think just having a larger "W" for "welcome" with the same typeface and colour as the rest of the text and then aligning it correctly with the text underneath would be a better idea.

I think its a good start but t looks too much like rs3-- it needs to be more distinguishable....

The layout with the tabs at the top is okay and I really like the artwork the wizard is oldschool for sure.

Not a big fan of the font make it more oldschool

While I do believe the design for the website goes in the right direction, I do dislike how the "play now" button is all the way up in the top right corner, rather than the center of the page like how it is now. I also am not a fan of the navigation bar, as it looks a bit too RS3 for oldschool. Perhaps a recolor/redesign of this would help? Lastly, as many people have mentioned, the wizard doesn't really fit with the aesthetic of oldschool, so perhaps something else can be placed there? Overall though, this is a step in the right direction, and I'm quite anxious to see the final result.

Not everybody is going to be pleased.

Solutuion

-Put it to a poll: the winning choice is implemented
-Give the community an option to switch between the two skins and layouts (button at the bottom of the webpage or something)
