That's kinda what the fall-back is, as described in the blog. The plan, again as described in the blog, is to poll that if the GE doesn't pass.

Great. Thanks. From the earlier posts it seemed like this wouldn't be doable in the trading post. I'll vote NO on the GE then.

The thing I've always hated about the GE is you can't see what the actual buy and sell offers are. So annoying. The trading post is already better in this regard. With automatic trade-through, it will be so much better than the GE.

If this system is implemented, we would make the Trading Post hide offers from players who have their private chat set to 'Friends' or 'Off'. It already removes offers from players who are offline.

Wouldn't it be possible to just let players have their private set to any mode? As the trading is done automatically there is no need to communicate with the seller.

Also, there currently doesn't seem like there's a rule saying we can't be logged in while we're not at the computer (a.k.a. splashing). So the trading post should show offers from players who are also offline in my opinion. Otherwise you'd just encourage more people to splash while they're not at their computer.
