It was around the time that the GE was released that the main game really started to go down hill. Not for the reason of restricted trade, nor for the abuse it can receive, but for the way it eliminates interaction between players. Without a need to see who you are dealing with face to face, things become very impersonal and stale. That, and it also destroys the purpose for any player ran businesses.
With the addition of a GE in Old School, we can likely expect player interaction to decrease by a lot. People would be less reliant on help from others and won't be encouraged to get out there to know people. As it is, the main appeal (In my own eyes) of Old School isn't that it has the classic feel, but that it lacks the very thing I feel began the decline of this game that was once so good. Old School is a challenge where fighting the game is part of the fun.
As popular as the demand for a GE might be, if you add it, it will no longer be Old School. Instead, we should encourage the use of the Forums. There are plenty of players, and even businesses that can help a lot when it comes to finding the items you need.
A GE would break the Old School feel for good. Please, I beg you do not make this a change to look forward to.
