Sigh. I had hoped that OSRS would take a less overbearing method towards achievement diaries. These diaries were an important part of transforming what is now RWTScape into "spend half your day collecting battlestaves and other daily junk that you need to sell because that is so much more efficient than your regular moneymaking methods". In addition, they obsoleted a TON of mechanics that were useful before, and some of which are still useful in OSRS.
This is not "old school Runescape" anymore - it's increasingly looking like an alternative route towards RWTScape. I am personally very frustrated and disappointed by the fact that the rewards weren't tweaked. They should have been useful, but less significant, perhaps situational. I realize that this outburst of mine is in vain, because everyone wants the cabbage ring (which is personally painful for me because it obsoletes the Port Sarim spirit tree, one of the best rewards of one of my favorite skills) and other disruptively painful items in play. I would have thought that the team would at least
try
to take an "old school" approach to the diaries, like they did with the Motherlode Mine and the rooftop courses, or certain new bosses. I see that this is not the case. While I probably won't quit over it like I quit RWTScape over the Squeal of Fortune, I can see myself losing some of the initial excitement that I still have over OSRS.
