Niiiiiiice! :D I've really missed the tasks in 07 and I'd love it if they came back!

I really dislike the idea of daily tasks though, because I don't want to be forced to do anything serious daily like in rs3 and just do whatever I want.

I'd like the tasks and the rewards to be similar to the ones in rs3 since they covered most unknown content basicly, and the rewards were very prestigious. (although some rewards might need balancing, some were very powerful but many were also very much useless, and DAILY)

A nice extra reward could be the quest cape trim, or a new cape of accomplishment similar to the quest cape that can trim or be trimmed by the quest cape to show you've travelled to every corner of rs.

So uhh.. I'd rather just have the diaries that came out pre-eoc with the same rewards.. I'm afraid of what will end up coming out of the update otherwise..

We can try to match some of the original releases, Varrock is half done in our repository but a lot of diaries came out later that used content we don't have and offered rewards that would be a bit too powerful for Oldschool.

One of my favorite diary rewards and I'll definitely be offering it when I talk about rewards soon.

they need to poll the diaries separately. I can see enough resistance to a wilderness diary (most of us do not want to feed pkers ego's with easy kills) that it could kill all the diaries if you bundle them together. pkers are not a large enough group to get a wilderness diary pushed though on their on. unless the things can be complete without having to feed pkers, they will likely get nothing.

I spent some time on Saturday writing most of the tasks for the Wilderness diary and while you'll want to avoid being PKed, you won't be forced to fight any players to complete it and rewards won't directly effect PKing.

Sounds great, I hope the elite tasks pass. Not sure about repeatable tasks though, I'd rather not be forced to complete that daily to get the most experience/hour anywhere where there are tasks.

Also wait, 10 new diaries?

We only have 11 slots total (one is ammo) and one is already taken (Karamja gloves). We won't be able to wear all our diary gear at the same time unless we're given some kind of diary ammo?

One slot will have 2 rewards, likely the weapon slot.

Perhaps the idea of a trimmed Quest Cape could be revisited with the release of Achievement Diaries? Just throwing it out there. :P

I'll be talking about rewards more soon but an achievement diary skillcape for completing all of them has been discussed, which could trim and be trimmed by owning a quest cape.

Not really feeling the repeatable tasks. Everything else sounds really good though!

What don't you like about them in particular?

Repeatable tasks give tons of benefit and a lot of exp in eoc-scape, and everyone is afraid of this in oldschool. Well if you would give repeatable rewards like: "once you have done ardongue elite diary which needs 91 thieving for example, then the repeatable task would give for 1-2 hours 5% bonus succes to steal without beeing slammed in the head or something like this" but not a game changer exp bonuses daily.

I've made a change to the Dev Blog to address a few concerns.

These additional rewards, from the daily tasks, do not necessarily have to be focused around additional XP. We can offer a range of different incentives varying from one/two additional ore from mining rocks in the area to a lesser chance of being stunned when pickpocketing NPC's.

All is awesome except the repeatable thing.

For me daily rewarding task is not good as well not an incentive way to play, because that tend you to think like : Hey let's do my daily tasks today and then logout.

And yeah, that give the feeling that a ton of xp will come from this and i don't think it's good. And the idea of reducing stun chance of things like that, that's just not attractive.

IMO player fix their own goals and that is what is cool, you don't need to "force" them (in a way) doing this or that.

EDIT : Also, the idea of weapon task reward is not really good in my opinion, tasks are a skiller and quester thing, so well, except Excalibur (which is not task reward btw), i think a weapon is not needed, and if, like Excalibur, this weapon is just used for special attack, what is the need for it to be a weapon and not an inventory item ? I don't feel like i need to have each task item to be in the item set, i could be happy with any item.

Skill cape (t) is awesome idea

I think this is a great idea. I am the owner of a couple skill capes, so they have a trim. I am also the owner of a quest cape and think this would be a great way to give it a trim also. I believe this will ultimately lead to many more people trying to complete the diaries.

I feel like daily challenges is not very great for runescape. Why?

Feels like a chore, not something fun to do. One of the main reasons why I don't play rs3 anymore. It's also about balance. If something is so strong that you only can do it once a day/10 minutes per day or something it's likely not fitted for OSRS were we try to keep some balance. If the best way to level each day is by doing every daily task then it's a problem, if it's not the best way it shouldn't be limited to once a day and should be a regular reward.

5% less chance to get caught pickpocketing for example: Is it too strong to have as a reward? Not likely. Therefore it could be a decent addition if you have it as a reward from a diary (in that location.) 50% less chance to get caught pickpocketing? This is very strong and shouldn't be a reward, even if it's only 30 minutes a day.

I don't want to be forced to do something everyday to gain the most of my experience.
