That might be the single most nonsensical take I've ever witnessed on the subject of MTX in gaming, for or against, and that's coming from someone who agrees that things have gotten out of hand. "If people decide to buy optional stuff, it's not truly optional"? That is ridiculously circular logic, and you know it.
There are plenty of legitimate arguments about MTX, TH, and especially this promotion in general, but this is pure horse pucky, and makes serious arguments against the practice weaker by association. You're better than this.
Nah bratan, you don't understand what I'm saying: if the MTX were truly optional, then you would be able to get it, in this case the "shadow gem virtus armor", in the exact same manner as you do by purchasing the MTX,
minus the monetary payment
. Many people are not going to be lucky and win this from free spins alone, so if they desire either of the two before-mentioned things, they're gonna have to pay extra money to get this (or someone else is gonna have to pay it, if they were to buy it using gp on bonds).
Jagex knows all too well that probability is unkind to many people when you need to strike lucky with a super rare chance, and that there are lots of players who desire for various fashionscape in the game. So even though getting this new virtus armor isn't mandatory practically speaking, those players are still exploited on, so there's no real choice.
