Realistically all these MTX complaints lead nobody to anywhere since the real world is a free market. Every customer is allowed to buy whatever he wants at his own price or go elsewhere. Every producer is allowed to sell its selection of goods and services at its own prices.

Why are players complaining about MTX if they can go to other games without MTX? The reason is extremely simple... because they can't find such no-MTX games that exist only in their dreams. And to the game developers it is extremely simple why they have to go with MTX and that's because if they don't they will be outperformed by their peers in terms of profits. In the worst case scenario if they don't capitalize from MTX, their games will be forced to shut down... and in the better case scenario, the games stay up with no profits after firing most of their employees.

There are many many search engines, video sites, social networks etc etc etc in this era... actually they have been there for 15 years... and yet you still can't find any other games similar to RuneScape at all... well, this means you have already found the quality in RuneScape after all. ;)

RuneScape is a niche item for sure, but it fulfills one goal; entertainment. If people are not entertained, they can find another entertaining item; it's doesn't have to be a RS-clone.

I second (or 487th) Transcendent's notion. The main beef with TH is that the flow of support is backwards. It's supposed to be...
TH = Money > Supports development > Improves game > Increases playerbase > funds TH
A nice happy loop that benefits everybody.
What's actually happening is...
TH = Money > Supports development > Wait a minute, that's a good development idea you had there, let's put it on TH!

Of course, if you don't want to buy anything in a free and REAL WORLD market, you don't have to. Both consumers and producers have their choices of products to sell and buy. That's what FREE MARKET is for.

This is a free game, and supposed to be. FREE means freedom to pay or not. Since you are a free player with only 3 posts in the forum, I don't think many players will doubt a free player who doesn't even get membership like you will want to pay for MTX... but fair enough, free players can still play this game without MTX. :)

Cool,

Hopefully what you said will stick as I am an old school player and started back in '08. I recently came back earlier this year, and I like the game a lot to be honest with you. But I see a lot of people bashing you guys. Maybe just stop doing some of the things people seem to be constantly listing to you guys & see what happens?

But.. It's your game, your company, do what you'd like to do.

Thanks for the post!

Good old jagex still at it again I see, even after all these years. Promising the same old year after year, it's like when Liverpool fans say that they are winning the league this season or when Wenger signs a new contract and says that his goal is to win the CL.

It's only been 2 years since I wrote my dissertation for my degree, on the topic of how microtransactions can destroy online games and Jagex and RS3 was the main case study. I optimistically wrote that perhaps Jagex learned some lessons and are finally willing to listen to the community more to make their game better, but today I lookedon Reddit only to find another apology from Jagex about how they are sorry they DESTROYED RS yet again. It's a joke. As I speak some student somewhere is probably writing a dissertation on how much Jagex has failed as a games developer and failed with RS3 and how it could potentially have been so much better. I'm sure there's enough fails to write a pHD about it, maybe titled "How not to run a popular video game". I almost feel sorry for the devs who have to sweat their ass off to produce poverty items for microtransactions which no one apart from Jagex fanboys give a shit about.

I'm sure Jagex will quieten down a bit for a few months to reel in the suckers again and then release maximum microtransactions to rake in as much as they can.

Open your eyes and wake up if you still don't realize no matter what's in your dreams of no MTX, it won't happen IN REAL LIFE. Look what's in the next TH promotion? It is best xp granting Super Nova stars again. Yes, right... now go back to your dreams and keep telling yourselves don't wake up because otherwise you will see Jagex keep selling xp. ;)

Or I have a better suggestion to you. You can dream of going to a theater and command the operators not to sell popcorn and soda because it is MTX.... If it doesn't work then [erhaps you can go to McDonald's and tell them they can only sell super value meals.... selling McFlurries and hot chocolates is a crime because it is MTX. :P
