"We went a bit too far with mtx. We are sorry and will learn"

A few days later:

"Look - we brought back this old promo ! But unlike last time you can not get the components through skilling - only with keys ! Sobbuy, buy, buy!"

I am assuming that second part was an honest mistake that Jagex will fix asap.
Right ?

Hopefully.

look how long it took for them to admit they got trade limit and the wildy removal wrong? and how the action was to little to late.
Wait I thought this is what people wanted? Wasn't everyone raging about the xp promos? Now they have a cosmetic promo & still raging? You guys are idiots. Isn't this exactly what people have been asking to make th about? Cosmetics???

The problem is, people don't know what it is that they want, and don't bother to think it through. I know this boiled over from reddit and social media (neither of which I pay attention to for RS), but when I first realized from this thread that the majority were asking for them to remove xp boosts as their raison d'etre, my first thought, was, "You fools, you're playing right into their hands."

The harder it is to 'earn' skills (like we used to), the longer you'll be around, and the more cash-grabbing promos they'll be able to shove in your face. As well, more time spent training skills actually results in more disposable gp to go to bonds. For Jagex, toning down xp from TH is nothing but win.

And now we see what they can replace it with. Fortunately, I'm not one who feels they have to have all the rewards/outfits etc from latest promo. Honestly, the frequency is mind-numbing anyway. I'm basically immune to their TH ads now. They're just background noise to me.

What seems odd to me is that when jagex runs a promo for xp it's all stars and lamps. You don't get bombarded by a bunch of cosmetics you may not want every other chest. They should when a promo is run for cosmetics have far less stars. But their greed sadly won't let that happen.

If that was the case oats wouldn't be doing so well, and even without mtx and double xp weekend RS3 still has faster leveling than osrs. This is just them opening a separate server from the current RS3 THAT PEOPLE WHO WANT A START OVER WITH NO MTX CAN PLAY. they would still have the current RS3 but also have a separate RS3 with a brand new high scores etc. They already have the client made. And even if they got rid of the xp in mtx, the community will just say the damage is already done. So let them choose if they want to play p2w or not.

Cosmetics are what Solomon's General Store is for.

Yet i dont see any reason why they cant also be available on th?...

Still as narrow-minded as always? Very well. I didn't mean that the SHOULDN'T be available on TH. Rather, I was suggesting how MOST cosmetic outfits should appear on Solomon's. Think about it, why would you spend a ridiculous amount of money for a chance to get the pieces for an outfit when you can pay a lower price for the full outfit guaranteed, no strings attached?

EDIT: Treasure Hunter should focus more on conveniences (exp lamps/stars, food, runes etc). Maybe the odd cosmetic (such as the "Rares" system with its accompanying item tokens) is acceptable. The current outfit promotion (Ghostweave) should really be on Solomon's, in my opinion.

Cosmetics are what Solomon's General Store is for. Besides, cosmetics should be available to buy straight up, not be gambled for a chance of winning them.
EDIT: At least, that would be the sensible thing to do.
Ok, so for gp, you buy bonds not keys. Now we're arguing no XP on TH, & now no cosmetics............
Removing TH isn't an option, so what do they put on it?

You're only moving towards cosmetics because the 1% that buys keys frequently is hitting their 99's and slowing down on buying more keys. That is the only reason you're making any changes to TH.

I get TH is necessary i do but i never understood why you didn't tie it into improving existing content. There are so many tiny pieces of content that using a th promotion's budget to update would ease a ton of the complaints. Take the new urns. You could have released them two weeks early and made it so they give double xp for those weeks before letting everyone make them. Or you could update a model for lava titans and have an attack of the titans mtx that lasts two weeks and there smouldering lamps and fire cosmetics.

I doubt anyone truly believes you listen anymore as we get apology letters what every 6 months to a year saying you aren't listening and will do better.

Convenience and completeness. Last time this exact same promo was run you could get several of the cosmetics through skilling. It was slow, it was inefficient, it took a lot of time - but you could. And TH could speed it up.

So:
Solomons for cosmetics you cannot get any other way
Bonds if you want to buy gp
TH for an easier way to get cosmetics that are also available through grinding

That seems to be what people want.

What *I* want is Jagex not saying "we realise we went too far with being greedy" mere seconds before releasing a "BUY MOAR KEYZ" promo :P
It's too late. You've awakened the gazebo.
It catches you and eats you.

I'm emphasizing this because this is how I see it as well.

They aren't getting rid of TH, and they have every right to use it and profit from it. But when they show this level of hypocrisy and facetiousness . . .

Either they're the idiots (I really don't think so), or they think we are and we won't notice the disconnect between words and deeds (that would be a serious mistake).

I think many of us would be far less overtly hostile to the amount of mtx (in this day and age, after 5+ years of mtx), if it were demonstrable that time and money were being spent wisely on quality updates to the game.

As for this latest promo? I think they're probably trying to walk an impossible line between the demands of their investors, and the desires of their players.
