That's not what I said, and that's not what you said. You mentioned "the video game industry" and "the business", and "the video game industry" is under a bit of a fire in regards to lootboxes at the moment. Enough so that even Shadow of War has had them removed. They wouldn't do that if they were simply "sharing the fun with other players". They had to rebalance the game after removing this "optional content".


Tip: don't put an obnoxious amount of smileys in your replies, it's hard to take someone serious when they do. Makes it appear more as if you're trolling, and I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt.

Edit: Forgot to add "videogame" to "the industry". What kind of MTX do

No, I do not see "Elite Skilling Outfits" as the current promotion as it's not mentioned on the homepage. Which is odd, as they usually are mentioned on there. Can't fault me for that one

Why can't people "earn" the skilling outfits as well, like the recent farming outfit:

"There is also the brand new ‘Elite Farmers Outfit’. This is the first Elite Skilling Outfit that is not from Treasure Hunter and is gained in-game. Whoop!"

See? That's good! This should be encouraged. Participating in a 'game of chance' in order to obtain pieces of an outfit should not.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "th kind of lootboxes" as every lootbox is like treasure hunter: You've a chance to unlock something, completely random, and likely not what you were after. Jagex steps this up by telling you "Your next key could get you [row of amazing items]". That's literally playing into the gambler, incentivizing them to continue. Like the women in casinos egging you on: "aww, you're so close!" They want you to continue.

Jagex always warns you about the "if it's too good to be true, it probably is", yet they've no qualms about doing this themselves. Showing that 200M in your face, which is the same way a scammer warms up to its victim, using the player's greed against them. What kind of MTX do

Do you also remember when Hirez tried to implement lootboxes in Paladins? They ended up removing them due to the backlash they've received.

I am simply telling you that UKIE embraces Loot Box obviously. And that's the INDUSTRY speaking, not just one game or one company

BTW, Treasure Chests are still in Paladins. So are different kinds of loot boxes still in different Hi-Rez games.
