TH isn't fine to stay even if it only offered cosmetics, because it'd still be predatory gambling; you still wouldn't know exactly how much a reward you want would cost you, unlike in Solomon's store, where you know the precise price, because RNG is not involved.
Stop calling something 'gambling' which is clearly not: none of the items offered have a tangible, real value in real life. Only the perceived, psychological value players give them in game. Which is also the main reason why people play videogames (not casino games): perceived and psychological benefits ... (fun, sense of achievement, you name it...)
Eh? So basically what you're saying is that because you personally don't find the in-game items to be worth any real value irl, they don't have any real value irl? But the thing is, as long as someone is willing to pay for something with irl money, that something has irl monetary value. And Runescape has had RWTers since the early days, so it's pretty clear that people are willing to pay irl money for the in-game items, and thus they have irl monetary value. > )
The fact is that TH is predatory gambling; it might not be "legal" gambling, as in you "always get something", but if you buy keys, you're still throwing money (either your own real money or someone else's) at a chance to get something specific you want, which makes it gambling. (And it's predatory because Jagex knows there are players addicted to the rewards, yet they're exploiting those players for their money, e.g. by offering the freebie keys here to get them hooked into buying more.)
