"Me believes in fate. Me believes we goblins is going to be really happy one day, and go to a beautiful place." - Gurts.
After a destined meeting with the player, Uggy decides to learn more about the god she has come to call the God of Empty Shadows, Zaros. Information is scarce, however, and those who do know of him dare not speak of it. She visits the Varrock Library which the Ekeleshuun goblins of Lumbridge had told her about; they sometimes made expeditions for fruit further north than their usual camps. They also informed her about a group of archaeologists studying a place to the east of the town, and they were also looking for information on this strange god she had never heard of until the player mentioned him.
One night, a pall of clouds forming an umbrella against the light of the stars, Uggy and her crew starts rummaging around the site which the talluns had been digging. Their work is careful and they take one step at a time; they must not be discovered if their goal was to succeed. Eventually, a young male goblin known as Studge finds a winch with a rope attached to it, and reports back to Uggy. "Me hears voices down there," he whispers, "They doesn't sound like talluns."
Uggy ponders Studge's words. Could the one she was looking for really be here? She edges slowly towards the winch, hearing the voices for herself. It sounds like him! She knew he was here as the player told her. Her hand reaches out for the rope, she grasps it and readies the others into holding the rope down for her to climb safely, but then "BOO!" Another voice booms in her ear and it sounds like momentous thunder in the dark silence. She swings from the rope looking around. "Who there?" she murmurs, to which replies a maniacal laugh. "It's been a long time, my dear Uggy!" Sliske materialises, leaning against the winch, cupping a hand to his own ear.

Uggy narrows her eyes and pins back her ears at the sight of Sliske; she learned to not trust him in spite of rumours that he himself was Zarosian. "What you want?" she says warily. Still wearing that wickedly smug grin on his face, he replies, "'What me want?' you say? Now that's a good question for an aspiring goblin, don't you think? Maybe I just wanted to say hello." She clambers off the rope and sits on the edge of the winch. "Well, don't let me keep you." He laughs again and disappears into the Shadow Realm, and a note appears inside Uggy's pocket.
She rustles inside her pocket and looks at the note, which reads: "Fate is the best game. Play it any way you like, and watch the ending!" Puzzled, she puts it away and makes to descend into the well, but Studge says to the crew, "The talluns is coming. We has to hide!" Together the goblins disappear into the woods as dawn breaks and the sun casts an orange glow and reflection over the River Salve, past the gloom of the Morytania swamps on the other side. A figure flickers over the surface of the river for a moment, but disappears soon afterwards.
One of the workers at the dig site throws a small piece of clay out into the woods where the goblins are, thinking it worthless. Uggy moves over to pick it up and take a look, but she steps on a stick with a cracking sound. The man turns to the sound, and starts walking slowly towards her, peeking into the trees. She backs off as quietly as she could, and as quickly as she dares, the goblins copying her movements. Then Krask, the ogre shaman apprentice at Uggy's side, lifts his staff very slightly. The man's eyes glaze over and then he mutters, "Just the wind," and goes back to digging. Krask turns to Uggy with a smile and says to her "We safe for now, me trick you-man with ill-you-shun. Me want to learn new tricks from God of Empty Shadows, and keep friends safe too!"

Uggy trusts everyone on her side, as she considers them her family, and Krask has just saved them with this move. His magical capabilities have grown substantially, and his quick wits and power saved her crew's lives time and time again. He picks up the piece of clay with his magic to avoid further alarms from the humans, and hands it to Uggy for further inspection.
The clay has an odd insignia on it, and the words "Vires, Fidelitas, Intelligentia" are inscribed around the symbol. Uggy runs her thumb around the side of the bit of clay, and finds a catch on it. It's a box! The innate inquisitiveness overcomes her and she finds the right spot to open it up, but there's nothing inside. Slightly disappointed that there wasn't anything of value, she makes to close the lid and toss it aside, but then she finds a small note inside the lid. She pries it out carefully so that it doesn't crumple up and become ineligible, and starts reading. She can't make out what it says though; it's in a strange language that she has only seen on armoury around castles she visited before, but never got round to properly reading.
Uggy gets the feeling that this note might be important, and is compelled to keep it along with the box on her. After putting it away inside her pocket, she gathers her crew again and, once the humans finished the day's digging, they went back to explore the winch.
Descending slowly towards the bottom, they find some pickaxes, buckets, and odd roots with a certain smell some of the goblins familiarised with recent explosions. And to their right, a pristine temple with an altar the likes of which they had never seen before. At the centre of this temple is a red-haired, feathered hat-wearing human with a beard named Dr. Nabanik. This is him, she knows it somehow. This is the one Uggy is looking for.

He kneels with his back to the goblins, the creamy coloured altar in front of him and three items on plinths surrounding him. A horn that feels cool, a statuette of a man sitting cross-legged and praying (Uggy could sense something like Sliske coming out of it), and a relic with the symbol of Saradomin carved on it. Uggy stares at the relic for a short while; if he is Zarosian, why would the star of Saradomin be here? The rapt silence is broken when he explains.
"The monks of Entrana did that," he says in a disgusted tone. "Still, at least we managed to complete our task at hand. This portal cannot be entered," he waves a hand to the gold swirling portal behind the altar, "it is only used to communicate with my lord. Oh, please forgive me. It seems that my manners are slightly off tune today, I should have introduced myself. My name is Azzanadra. I heard about you from our adventurer friend, you seem open minded enough. Very well!" Azzanadra claps his hands together. "How can I help you on this fine day, milady?"
Uggy tilts her head slightly as she thinks. "Where me start? We makes great journey here!" she laughs slightly nervously. Then she goes into her story, how she ran from the goblin raiders and the Zamorakians after they killed her father, was saved by the druid Ballistix, made a name for herself among the goblins after a few incursions and shenanigans, then came to the player for advice. "And then we comes here to ask you for help on rest of our journey."
"We finds this too." She takes the clay box out and shows it to Azzanadra. With a sombre expression he gives it back to her and says, "A fine piece of art from a noble family of demons. They were not warlike," he says at the sight of her face, "This family pursued the arts, and were honourable creatures. I remember that Seneci**** (1) came from that clan, a very honourable being. It is a terrible shame what happened to him."
(1): Broken Home demon.

Azzanadra strokes the beard of his Dr. Nabanik form while combing over Uggy's curiosity with his gaze. "You have come to make another chapter in your story?" She nods; ever since Gurts told her that story in her childhood, she has always believed in fate. She has always believed that fate would bring her and her friends something good. He chuckles, "Well, this is certainly an odd request. Milady, I'm afraid I cannot tell you exactly what to do on your journey. You have done that yourself for the most part. What I can tell you is to listen to your instincts and have faith in yourself. If you have truly taken on the way of Zaros, I advise you to keep moving towards your destiny, and strive to grow in strength and intelligence. Keep calm at all times and have reason and logic at your side. This is the Zarosian path."
Uggy says to these words, "Me is always listening. Me listens to friends too, me trusts them. And me chooses to trust tallun that me came to, and you too." She gets up and makes another request. "We wants to get stronger together too, so we meets fate and gets happy at end. Krask good at magic, he saves us so many times. Studge sharp and clever, he proves we is smart. Me has faith in them all, and wants to train." Azzanadra accepts the request, and hands them copies of the Ancient Hymnal and the Codex Ultimatus. Then he asks Krask to stay behind to train in Zarosian magic, while the others head to Ghorrock to train in combat and become accustomed to fighting in the unique ways he explains.

Five months pass, and the sun casts a powerful glow through the east entrance of the old fortress as the goblins meet in its centre, at a table they built from dead trees. At the centre is the stomach of a dragon, stuffed with grain, berries, and some of the meats they had foraged for their training here. The monsters here were ferocious, a great challenge for lowly goblins, but these goblins have just passed. Now they prepare a feast as they have conquered their challenge and came out with a new purpose...
Uggy stands up, and the others silence themselves. "We has come this far, my friends. We has conquered lots of challenges together, and now we makes new goblin tribe. There was twelve tribes, nine follows Big High War God, they is limited. We makes thirteenth tribe, different from others. We follows God of Empty Shadows, he lead us through to our fate! We is now Umbreshuun, the Fate-Chasers of the Empty Path, and we has new purpose!"
She picks up her glass. "We train here, and now we sits here with training complete, on old fortress of his empire. Even Big High War God not know of his power. We makes new covenant now." She toasts everyone present. "For luck, for fate, to find beautiful place!" They drink in unison, and set glasses down at the same time. She sits down, and they begin to eat the stomach that has been prepared for the feast.
The sun has risen to its peak, and the shadow of the southern wall falls over them as their feast is finished. Studge sits close by Uggy, three seats from her. Like all the goblins present he has a curiosity about him, and he asks her, "What this fate we is chasing?" Uggy says to him, "Me not know for sure. Nobody really knows what fate is. But we is chasing it anyway. Me has hope that we finds beautiful place at end." Studge is still slightly puzzled, but he understands better. At the end of the journey, they might find true happiness.

The sun sinks below the walls to the west, the entrance there casting a pink and orange glow while darkness approaches. The dragons with metal coats are reinvigorated with the energy that nocturnal creatures possess. Uggy and the rest of the goblins bar one turn in for the night before setting off for the new part of their story. The only one that stays up is Studge, for he has noticed a hooded figure walking towards them. The person seems to be wearing dark green and appears almost as if he has a beard. Studge doesn't know where the feeling comes from, but his instinct tells him that this man isn't out to attack Uggy and her crew. He goes down to meet him, but keeps his sword on him just in case.
The man standing before Studge appears to have skin which almost reflects the light of the stars. What he took to be a beard seemed almost like red crystals, and there were more on his head and below his eyes, which were also red. He speaks to Studge in a polite voice, "Forgive me for disturbing you tonight. My name is Wahisietel, and I am a friend of Azzanadra. I was visiting the place where one of our allies passed away."
He knows Azzanadra? Something tells Studge that he can't be an enemy. "Me was keeping watch. Your friend die here?" Wahisietel scrutinises Studge, he heard that this crew of goblins came to follow the path of Zaros. He could also tell that they have been training hard here; perhaps on the advice of Azzanadra? "No, he slept near here until he was taken away and slaughtered." Studge offers his condolences, but then suddenly puts a hand on his sword, his head sweeping over the fortress and courtyard. Then he takes out a bell with his other hand and rings it with all his might. Wahisietel turns around with his hands up in front of him, sparks coming from them. Studge calls out, "We has company!"

Uggy and the rest of the crew leap out of their beds and immediately go straight to battle formations. The better crossbow users station at the broken ramparts around the fortress, with more at the west and east. The magic using goblins are dotted about the place but most are at the north and south wall tops. She jumps down to the western entrance, crossbows at the ready, shouting "Battle stations! We has to get out of this alive!" At the sight of Wahisietel, she aims at him, but then she notices that he's helping her out. Saving questions for later, she runs to the east side, locking and loading with bolts and electricity.
Undead hordes crawl out through the tunnels in the west and east, most heavily in the east, and over the mountainside in the south. None appear in the north coast. "Everyone north, come east and help me here!" The mages to the north head straight to Uggy's side to take on the heaviest downpour of zombies. "Attack! We not dying today! We has fate to find, and nothing get in our way!" Bolts and spells fly everywhere, hundreds of zombies falling but so many coming back.
"It's Zemouregal!" calls Wahisietel. "He built his hideout near this sacred fortress!" Uggy shouts out, "Everyone keep fighting!" Bolts and spells continue to fly, Studge ducking and diving around the zombies' blades and slicing them open in counter-strikes, Wahisietel casting spells more powerful than anything her mages could muster as well as protective shields for the snipers on the ramparts.
After forty minutes of non-stop fighting, the zombies all stop at once and disappear into the ground. Wahisietel walks over to Uggy. "He's coming, fellow fate-walker. Prepare yourself." The snowdrift that had been protecting the east is blown apart in green sparks, and another hooded figure comes. He raises a hand, covering it in fresh sparks. "I, Zemouregal, have come to crush you Zarosians once and for all in the name of Zamorak!"

Wahisietel strikes first, and a clash between him and Zemouregal begins. They cast spells beyond anything the goblins could conjure. Zemouregal brings back the zombies to attack again, but Wahisietel always manages to defeat them in one blow, defending the old fortress and the new Zarosian goblin tribe. His eyes narrowed, Zemouregal sneers, "Those goblins got it in their addled minds that the Empty Lord will return? Do they, and yourself, really believe in such fairy tales?" Then purple squares fall down from the sky next to Wahisietel, and form themselves into the shape of an ogre. "It not fairy tale. It true."
Krask returns at his cherished leader's side. "Sorry me late. Me just finish training too. Birdy hat man show me great new tricks!" Zemouregal asks sardonically, "And what makes you think a sluggish brute like yourself can beat the Mahjarrat?" And he summons a vast wave of undead, over a thousand zombies. Krask smiles at this and says, "Dis nothing." before raising a hand draped in energy and thrusting it into the ground. Darkness envelops the area, and a sound like howling wind rushes forth from the spot where he touched the earth. Before the zombies can even reach him, all become impaled on stalagmites of ice and crumble into dust.
Overcome with rage, Zemouregal conjures up a ball of red energy in his hand. "Now you Zarosians will perish!" He hurls it straight at Krask, who conjures up a purple shield. The shield doesn't block the impact; he is thrown to the ground. Zemouregal roars with laughter and triumph. "This is the might of the Empty Lord? Pathetic, you cannot even defend properly!" But then Krask gets up and says, "That not for defending. Me draw in magic and make self stronger from it. Now it over." Then he blasts Zemouregal with a spell of his own, blue energy sending him crashing thousands of feet back into his own fortress. The Umbreshuun have conquered another challenge.
