My other part to thinking Xau-Tak could be an elder god, he predicted that the player would be born, perhaps it knows other elements of the future. Sliske also seemed enraged when they player finds these 'secrets'. If going with the Xau-Tak as master theory, I suppose it's reasonable to assume he came into contact with it in some degree, as the main issue on his mind was who the not yet born character was, he also obtained their birth date, which didn't seem to be provided by the sailors. Xau-Tak and Sliske both share similarity in death and necromancy. I can also see a parallel that if it's an elder god, it could explain the Sliske God Wars, as he treats Gods as toys, while they tend to view each other as serious threats.
Lot's of other questions.
If V learned of Xau-Tak by finding its conquered worlds, did Zaros?
If Zaros knew (and he should considering he visited all the worlds he could find), why doesn't he address the threat, why is Sliske, his #1 in information, entirely uninformed of Xau-Tak?
Xau-Tak, known to Sliske, is not included in his God Wars list, why's that too?
Why is Xau-Tak even relevant here? Why would it be a point of interest that would send Sliske into a rage nearing the ****** of his quest line?
Last note...
Aside from killing the character ruining the story, why doesn't he? Clearly Sliske has somehow obtained a prophecy concerning the character, I would say there's more to it.
