The kitten cutscenes are unrelated to the player character - it is established in previous quests that they do not have the benefit of seeing them. They get to see us insulting Zombie pirates, Dr. Fenkenstrain's brain surgery, and crabs eviscerating the Zombie pirates in all their glory.

So Xau-Tak was breaking the fourth wall, taking over the narration, and talking to us.
You never were our brightest star, Khazard. 'Vermin slaughtered like lambs'? What does that even mean?

There was quite a bit of fourth wall-breaking in the quest, from forcing your character to imbibe more 'rum', to their confusion over what pronoun to use when taking to themself, to space kitty saying we aren't human (maybe a stretch and alluding to something different).
Continual disappointment is the spice of life.

Another Note,
In Pieces of hate, it is revealed that a 'serum' that Mi-Gor developed can turn people into Crassians, which it seems happened to Rabid jack too. Not to mention the fact that, and i quote, a 'Zombified Agoroth' (or agoroth-like crassian) is in servitude to Rabid jack in the quest, Zogroth.

This could mean, that when the Horror 'Priestesses' came out from the water in one of the horror journals, then they could have been made part Crassian, so Xau-Tak has a definite link.

I'm pretty sure Brass Hand Harry mentioned as well that he 'thought i saw some of those horrors swimming', so does this mean that the Horrors have an aquatic form too? Maybe half crassian?

He couldve also witnessed them drowning like the prophets in the journal. Just walking into the sea. Or couldve seen them post conversion.
I have seen the dark universe yawning, where the black planets roll without aim;
Where they roll in their horror unheeded, without knowledge or lustre or name.

Maybe a mix of all three? Who's to say that mwanu lifecycles dont go

Jungle Horror -> Cave Horror/Unspeakable Horror -> Crassian/Fish (Deep One?) Horror?

maybe they are born in the jungles, go to the caves, and then the final stage is crassian metamorphosis, as we see Rabid Jack has gone through, which further establishes that Crassians are individuals who are turned into those forms by Xau-tak, with wizards like Hector Vivian learning the curse, and people like Mi-Gor being able to put that curse into rum using black stones.

Read the whole thing with so much interest but is there any way to find how and who named the jungle Jermyn? I've only just got round to collecting the journals and reading one saw my quite rare maiden name as the name of the jungle, it was quite a weird feeling, with a kind of double take-how did they know - feeling!

It's named after "Facts Concerning the Late Arthur Jermyn and His Family", a story by H.P. Lovecraft.
