Gee, my lore knowledge wasn't as up to date as I had thought. Thanks for pointing this out all! And this is most certainly an interesting discussion. I'll continue stalking this thread until I have something more meaningful to contribute myself

Maybe the reason Amascut is a bit saner in the alternate timeline is because she didn't get upset at the mahjarrat and walk off to encounter Mah. I dunno what that has to do with the World Guardian not existing, though.
I'm not sure Amascut is
that
sane in DoD. After all, Arrav tells us that getting our hands on a canopic jar will be difficult as "
they come from the desert, and Amascut has her apes patrolling Al-Kharid.
"
Its a pretty safe bet that the entire desert region is in her paws, hands, whatever.

Perhaps it's less that she's saner and more that she's won. 'History is written by the victors' and all that.
She takes over, eliminates or drives underground resistance to her rule, and the only people left to say anything about it are those who favor her. I suppose it also helps that she's able to provide a service these cats desired (reviving their mum).

What if that means "Amascut has her apes patrolling Al Kharid to guard tombs from robbers (making it hard to get a canopic jar)?"
If you were serious that would be grasping at straws
Until we get a alternate timeline quest/event dealing with the Kharidian desert, we are all grasping at straws when it comes to Amascut. It is utterly silly for us to claim someone else's straw is smellier when we are all pulling from the same haystack.
Hmm... so Amascut's apes patrol Al-Kharid and Enakhra still is angrily camped out in the desert. Gee, Jagex is very insistent on preserving at least some of the status quo. Its very silly, considering there is time travel involved and Zaros and Seren are mostly absent. I wonder what reason they'll come up with for the mahjarrat to betray Icthlarin. Probably boredom.
I imagine they might even come up with a convoluted, half thought out reason for elves sticking around in the alternate timeline.
Humility is self-destruction, pride is the destruction of all else.
And He said, "
Well maybe our Seren went back in time and convinced past Seren to make a few changes. So she brings the Mahjarrat to Gielinor. Dumps the Elves on an unsuspecting Guthix while promptly avoiding him and abandoning them. She breaks off the dark part of herself and creates Nex. ect ect and then what is now an alternate Seren goes back to Freneskea to keep Zaros from interfering with things here. <insert epic betrayal here>.
Mean while our Seren goes back to the future but using the same portal she used to get to the past. Since she uses the portal tuned to our universe the alternate happily jaunts on to destination Disaster. While to our Seren it looks like nothing happened!
All in all, a lesson on why you leave time traveling to the professionals!
The purpose of adventure is to shine light into dark places,
Poke monsters with a sharp stick, Then steal anything that isn't nailed down!

How did Zamorak become a god in DoD?
Zaros never arrived on Gielinor there.
......?
Remember Loarnab, the god previously followed by the people of Senntisten, before Zaros arrived and turned Lornab into a tortured, living power battery because he didn't want to expend his own energy to transport his demonic legions from the opposite side of the universe? (And how Loarnab's followers bowed down to him in fear after witnessing the torture and imprisonment of their god, followed by the arrival of hundreds of demons?)
DoD lore indicates that without Zaros to kill him, Loarnab basically took the place of Zaros in this timeline and did pretty much everything the same. He created a big empire, got the Mahjarrat from Icthlarin, even created Nex (though this Nex uses a couple different component species). Zamorak's betrayal in this timeline was against Loarnab, not Zaros.
And yes, Loarnab's name is a pun on "lorenub"... Mod Jack came into the Scrying Pool asking for name suggestions for a new god. Someone (I wish I remembered who) suggested "Loarnab"... And Jack actually used it.
The Asgarnian ale must flow.

Ah yes, the infamous Loarnab, I remember now. Thanks.
