This was a great read :)

I think most of the assumptions were fine, except for the part which states that those old Water Lizards are the Wyrms exactly.

Not just because Kerapac names them differently, but mainly due to the fact that the QBD breathing fire naturally seems to be something new, worthy of mentioning. She was a heir to both those lizards and the kin, so if both were already able to breathe fire naturally it should be surprise that she could too.

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I'm realizing now that my view on wyrms is presented a bit unclearly. Dragonkin make no reference to '***ms' themselves, so I'm assuming that's not a term they use.

My thoughts are that there are two big categories of wyrms. The original, unaltered wyrms, which are native to Gielinor. These comprise several species, all giant and mindless, but only one of which (the water-dwelling variety) gives rise to the QBD.

The second category are indeed altered by the Kin, those Dactyl who failed to replicate Kerapac's original experiment. My thoughts are that dragons comprise the 'breeding stock' - those they initially thought might show promise and might be worth manipulating their offspring. While the wyrms were utter failures, with neither intelligence nor magic, and not even worth taking back to their laboratories.

The altered wyrms saw use in the God Wars, which drove them mostly extinct. The original varieties likely still exist in the Eastern Lands.

My theory is that the Aquatic Lizards were just simply Cave Crawlers or something, as their old appearance used to resemble a Dagannoth Fledgling; alluding to a primal metamorphic stage before they assume the human-like gait of the Dragonkin themselves.

Mysteriously, it's possible that a Dragon's traits is exhibited purely by what their ancestors consists of. the Dragonkin can breathe fire so that's completely natural. but not firing Ice nor Poison, the latter could possibly fit in if they used different Lizards or even different creatures all together. White Dragon's coloring may have been from direct genetics from Kerapac who shares the same tone as Therragorn.

FANON
* The Elder Gods slumber, leaving 3 or so elder artifacts on Gielinor.
• Guthix arrives and uses the Stone of Jas to restructure the Anima and to transplant more advanced lifeforms onto the planet.
• Kerapac creates the QBD, possibly before the 1st age.
• She gets sealed up under what would be Rimmington.
• Another Dragonkin steals the research and creates the King Black Dragon.
• Both were bred together to see if intelligence could be handed down, but resulted in bestial creatures.
• Guthix hides the stone...maybe in Acheron?
• V finds the stone and leaves, but the stone is taken away by The Kethsians, or what the Lunar Clan declare as people who "walks a higher astral path".
• The Kethsians uses the stone, prospering. but eventually succumbed to the Dragonkin. Armadyl himself could only watch from horror from Abbinah.
• Zamorak kills Zaros, the former is injured and is taken into Infernus to take it over and recover for 20 years.
• Somehow Zamorak finds the stone on Kethsi.
• God Wars starts to happen.
* Saradomin confiscates the Stone and hides it at what would be the Fist of Guthix.
• Zamorak uses the stone, causing Forinthry to become desolate, waking up Guthix.
• Guthix places the Stone under Lumbridge.

Non-God related.

• the KBD was released into Forinthry, and was befriended by Hannibus.

Although Kerapac let the KBD free and also experimented on Dragons. assuming it's possible to teleport to other locations where the Stone was Falsely Used in the past. this may have been a way to dump off creatures who simply "wasn't" dragons, yet latent genetics may exhibit themselves in various ways which would be the equivelent of genetic engineering affecting local wildlife.

Therragorn's teleportation ability is seemingly linked to the Dragonkin's, however she needed to mindmeld with Hannibus, possibly to use his ability to detect the "destiny" of things, which creates an anchor point to Iaia.

To the Dagannoth, they use the power of Dreams to mindmeld to the weak minded, which was what happened to the old Lighthouse owner before the current one moved in before the Lighthouse quest. later on, the Dagannoth species evolved due to some quasi-evolution adaptive defence on a species-wide scale. the 2nd Dagannoth mother than tried to mind meld with the current Light House owner.

We and Baba Yaga recreate the Dream Potion to enter his dream to see their plans. it might be thin evidence now, but since the Dagannoth first appeared during the 3rd age, and Zamorak and by extension the God Wars started in the 3rd age. may have been a reason Kerapac may be more hasty about creating dragons due to the Rage slowly building up at the time.

The evolution within the Dagganoth species could easily be attributed to weak genetic connection to the Stone of Jas, possibly distorted. the Dragonkin themselves might have not known that the Curse exhibits itself in various ways like Therragorn's teleportation. by extention also explains Dagannoth Prime's examine of being able to "fly on the North winds."

Rex comes first. the Bukalla prepares for an attack and wins. Supreme is then spawned and wins but loses to the Lunar Clan. then Prime mindmelds and wins, the Seercull may have been an adaption.

I don't have anything to add to your thread - I just wanted to say how well thought out and brilliantly put together it is.

You should get rid of the 'not meant to be read straight through' bit, as I did just that, and didn't get bored in the slightest.

Thanks for the great read!

:)

@ Jos. Thank you very much, I'm flattered. I'm still wary of presenting it as one continuous topic (modern attention spans and all), but I did remove one disclaimer from the top.

@ Plucky9. That's a compelling theory, and I'd forgotten about the old graphics. We know from the 2nd dragonkin journal that the original aquatic lizards were vast (that ancestry is responsible for the QBD's size), but it doesn't mean something crave-crawler-like couldn't have been used in the creation of another dragon.

I'm not sure I understand your second post. Are you saying that the Dragonkin created the Dagganoth, or that the dagganoth may have got their intelligence from exposure to the Stone of Jas?

Anyways, thanks for all your theories! It gives me a lot to think about.

Im saying that the Dragonkin gains rage, due to the curse being a purposeful defense mechanism forced upon them by Jas. when they infused eggs with their essence, it may have also transplanted some of the curse into the offspring. The Dragonkin seems to follow wherever the Stone goes but comes from the east; which may be as simple as the Sun setting in the west. (alluding to a Chronometric-themed curse)

So Dragonkin somehow teleports when the stone is used. but the more advanced and possibly intelligent dragons could manipulate spatial space for teleportation. or directly using Magic in the case of some of the Dagannoth. essentially, would it be possible that some Dactyl (or Kerapac) purposely released some Proto-Dragons into the region to see how they adjust, after realizing their adaptive ability. only for them to grow out of control unchecked? with little predators and a bleak environment, they simply evolved out most of the Dragon-like features and adopted something amphibious.

Wyverns are probably Draconic, but are inadvertently unadjusted to their conditions for whatever reason and died out, though their latent reanimation into skeletons is unknown as to wherever they're man-influenced circumstances or something inherent with the Lizards', let alone the curse-influenced Dragonkin physiology.

V also grew from a Neanderthal into a Human, during a time where there was already regular Humans existing for a few ages. the stone may have been an ascendency device. the Dagannoth's seemingly evolutionary defenses might have came from the Dragonkin's link.

Plus, isn't it strange that the Bane ammo works on Dragons, Basilisks, Abyssal Demons AND Wallasalkis? the Balmung made from Bane Metal by Kharshai needed Dagannoth (counts Wallasalkis) blood to seemingly activate it? the spell was created by Kethsians. the Abyssals may be explained due to being exiled by Zamorak during the 20-year war of Infernus and devoured Dragonkin remains, and warped by the Abyssal energies.

The Water Lizards may not necessarily be aquatic, or possibly they infused various Lizard-like species. some species may have been entirely wiped out (such as the mentioned remains on Fossil Island, where a Dragonkin still slumbers) or possibly the altered Draconic creatures reintegrate into the general population, breeding in some of the improved genes.

This may explain something like Basilisks having 6 feet, like the Cave Crawlers. or something as fantastical like the Bird/Lizard-like Cockatrices, seemingly being a hybrid creature that somehow occurred naturally. Basilisk feet still looks startlingly similar to the KBD's but not to his Dragon descendants.

KBD has Ice Breath, Fire and somehow; Poison. Cave Crawlers has poison. so at least the regular Dragon side may have a bit of Cave Crawler in them, or possibly both species diverged from another Lizard-Like species which consists of the Saurian/Snakelike creatures that compose of the Wyrms, Wyverns and the QBD, and the four-legged Lizard/Amphibious creatures such as Regular Dragons and the Dagannoth. (and startlingly distant, Wallasalkis)

Or possibly Hydras? may justifiably provide an aquatic, poisonous, Multi-headed species that the KBD could take after, and thus would have genetic compatibility with the Queen.
