Very interesting thread.

I have always wanted to find out about the players past, but I see Jagex want the player to be someone that you can see yourself being.

Although I can already relate with my character as of now, I still want to know of my characters past :(
So can we get a trimmed quest cape though?

I had a pleasant reading. The Adventurer is indeed the biggest mystery of all.

Hope it helps: After Family Crest, you can talk to Sir Renitee to change your crest. My very first time he told me I was from Kandarin. I don't know if the crest is random, but who knows...

Edit: Didn't read the rest of the thread who just said the same thing :P But i'll keep the text because I can
;)

There are also speculations and unconfirmed theories that the Adventurer

* Is a reincarnation of a young Guthixian human
*
Was born in Lumbridge

* Created the username as an alias
* Is not a human after all
----

When Player Owned Houses came out I headed to some guy in the White Knight Castle (he does the banners/colouring shields and helmets) and he said (if I remember correctly) that my parents were from Varrock :P .

(Highlighted the "was born in Lumbridge" in yellow because it reminded me of wanting to get the Falador banner back in the noob days :P .)

Later Edit: Perhaps the Family Crest thing (from the posts above) could hint that the player's family travelled alot to various locations?

Intriguing thread.

The question about our character lacking definite past is an issue that has been on my mind as well. While there are some scraps of information every now and then, I certainly could use some more.

Considering how the game has been developing around quests - our character befriending more and more people, implementation of voice-acting and such - the common sence says future dialogues, whenever the Adventurer will appear, if voice-acted has to find a different way how to adress us. Just imagine Azzanadra to keep calling us "adventurer" when he already knows our name. Bit silly, in my opinion.

Maybe Jagex should make a poll for deciding how to name the Player, both male and female, in canon. The past of the character can still be our own imaginated if real role-players would find it offensive. This would help in the quest developing as well.

Well, these are my thoughts still. In case I have hurt anyones feelings, forgive me, please.

Personally I care not for the 'official' facts of our character; my character is what I determine him to be. For instance, I disregard the description in the 'My Life' book as being born into a poorish family, for in my eyes, my character was born into a noble family of Kandarin [specifically in Yanille].

I think it is far more fun to create our own backstories than rely on details fabricated by others, hence why despite the confirmed 'details' in the game about our pasts, I ignore them, as they detract from my own idea of who I want my character to be. Hence, for instance, why when the Balance Elemental talked to me as if he knew me before, I laughed It off as a nutjob.

You neglected the possibility that the Balance elemental knew the player in the future after he/she banished the gods and then died. The balance elemental is a being with the capability to straddle dimensions and as such exist in the future or past.

There is a possibility that the Balance Elemental simply told us of our eventual death.

Furthermore we do also know that Guthix had been watching the adventurer grow and develop for a long time before he blessed him/her. This implies that the adventurer's birth may have something special to begin with.

Check Page 1, Post 4. Aquamage did not forget the Balance Elemental.
Where do you know that Guthix is following us? He was sleeping...

Whats strange is the apparent power of the adventurer, yet most people do not act in awe of him/her. Lord Daquarias acts as if we are some random knave, for example. The adventurer is clearly powerful, as he can use powers that most people can't. He can use powerful magic, defeat vampires, destroy demons, and even make runes. Also, we must have some special connection to the gods, one that we may be able to strengthen with divination. For example we could lift the butterfly, and open the doors to guthix's resting place. Is it possible that the adventurer had a connection with the divine?
