I must admit, after Tuska I fell away from RuneScape almost entirely until about January of this year. The Goebies and Raids were something I never really got into, even in the lore aspect. Though now I feel like I should be more interested.
What interests me is this.. beings.. obvious interest in us. Does it know we are the World Guardian granted powers by Guthix? Does it know we're the ones who helped to slay Tuska? The ones who are starting to free the Goebies from the Airut and Tuska's influences? The guy who kills all the raid bosses?
WHO is it? Tuska seems likely, given the line about "This world still shakes with my influence" line, but then again not because she's supposed to be dead. An Elder God? Aren't they on Gielinor? Why would they not know about runes? The "You don't know the power I've awoken." line seems to imply that they have awoken some great power, maybe their own? Is it some evil deity that existed on Mazcab before Tuska attacked? Xau-Tak? I thought he was supposed to be more involved with the Pirate series and Rabid J- the villain of that series? Though the obsession with pain and fear seems like something Xau-Tak would be happy to see.
Whoever it is, they're powerful enough to harm us through Guthix's blessing (I assume) which means they're a rather powerful deity. Either way, I can't wait to confront this being.. man this new lore stuff is getting so good!

So I finally decided to do all this, and get to confront this mysterious ??? person myself.. and I realized something. Something I never thought of, and quite frankly I should have.

Why the Blood Altar? Of all the places it could've been, why there? Does whatever we're speaking to have some connection to Blood magic? To Ancient magicks maybe? Some connection with Morytania?
I feel like it wouldn't be the Blood altar for no reason, right?

Also, I was just reading through this thread and I saw someone mention Mod Deg. Is he involved in this? If so, 'Where it all began' could be talking about his item hunt thing. Somebody try taking it back to Yu'buisk.

I think Mazcab is the planet after Tuska (and perhaps during her destruction), and Chantli is the planet before Tuska arrived.

It could be a distinction in type of location (e.g.: Antartica during the time of Pangea was a lush place and now it's a barren icy desert), or era/time (e.g.: Triassic vs. Jurassic), or something more spiritual (e.g.: the year of the Monkey vs the year of the Horse, in Chinese astrology), etc. But effectivey, in the sense of a Ship of Theseus sense it's one and the same - isfaik.. I think and hope at least.

Mazcab is what we have now.. who cares what it was before? That's not really of significance... We're on Mazcab NOW.

What if it's actually got something to do with the Dragonkin? Zaros says their home was destroyed and they are bound to the stone of Jas. If a "False User" touches this stone, they feel pain, and they seek to destroy that person. We touched the stone, they are likely to be wanting us destroyed. Also they get more powerful with each time the stone is used by anyone besides Jas.
It's just a thought and I haven't really been thinking much about it yet, thus why I can't elaborate further at the moment, but it seems possible to me that they might be, in some way, involved.

From the runefest lore q&a we know that in the past one Goebie wanted more than spiritual magic (the kind of magic Goebies traditionally use) and wanted to learn the secrets of elemental magic. He's supposedly responsible for accelerating the anima drain on Mazcab (which was damaged even before Tuska came).

Take a look at the dialogue:

???: This world... This weak world still shakes with my influence even years later...
???: You do not know the power I've awoken...

(...)

???: I am the wind that whips at your skin.
???: I am the earth that will claim your bones

It seems likely that this malevolent Goebie not only succeeded in learning elemental magic, but also became incorporeal in some way. Perhaps he merged with the elements, or the anima mundi.
-
I have noticed your kind does tend to blindly stumble forward towards danger simply because it exists. What is your word for that?
- We call it being a hero.

I agree with Aesir. After watching the Lore Corner from RuneFest, this came to my mind. It makes sense, if you ask me.

I just hope we get to learn more about this sooner rather than later.
