I'm just going to point this out here, if we decide to go with option 2, we're
not
likely going back to the whole 6 month election cycle. Everyone I've talked to, and everyone I've seen on this thread, are of the consensus that this system was faulty and caused unnecessary drama. I agree completely.
However, I want an election for generals because I think the FC should get a say in who is put forth to run and moderate the chat. When this new system was randomly and suddenly implemented, we saw the immediate backlash when the vast majority of people got absolutely no input into this decision.
No disrespect to Dethal, I think he has done a fabulous job, but letting him run everything leads the way to corruption. This sudden appointment of new generals was made after a select group of people went and whispered in Dethal's ear to put a system in place that they approved of. Plus, it's not fair to put all of this on him.
Yes, I know I'm in a minority. If people want Dethal to run things, I'm okay with that, but please consider what that could mean in the future for possible general appointees. The role of a general is one to moderate the chat, but let's not pretend they do not hold influence and sway within the chat. An election can ensure that the generals appointed are ones that have at least some degree of approval within the chat.
Just my two cents.
EDIT: Fixed a typo. I meant to say "no DISrespect to Dethal."
