Humans come from Earth, they're believes are still intact or they're knowledge of creatures of they're past religions are intact. That solves dialogue. As for the emote and the gravestone its merely Jagex using our depiction of of what an angel is to describe what the object or animation looks like.

Jagex has confirmed that Earth does not exist. It has been confirmed that this is reflected by RS lore. There are plans to correct references to Earth in RS.

Could you kindly show us some sources?

Because I'm convinced (and I'll probably maintain this belief even if Jagex josses it) that the humans of RS came from our realm.

(And in the case of King Authur and his knights, where else but Britain are they supposed to have come from?)

EDIT: I'm not saying you're wrong...just that I'd like to know where Jagex has definitively stated that there has never been Earth-Gelinor contact.

Jagex have confirmed Earth does not exist at all. The human homeworld is not Earth and King Arthur does not come from the human homeworld. Saradomin spread humans throughout various planes none of which are Earth. Britain exist in lore currently but is not a location referring to the Isle on Earth but could be any location not on earth. It could be a planet in itself for all we know. A planet called Britain.

It would be like Jagex to make Britain a planet... It might aswell go ahead and be its own planet. :P

You re forgetting 1 Thing. "Angels" are not the name of a Race. Its a designation, a title. All an "Angel" is, is a "Messenger sent from God". Even in real life, look at Christian/Jewish lore, Angels are not one group, but are comprised of dozens of different creatures in in a multitude of different forms, from the traditional Humanoid with Wings, to Burning Wheels covered in thousands of eyes.

"Angels" are not a Race, Its a Job Description. If you want to get into the Lore side of the game, its probably something similar, there is no "Angel' race, its describing any being that is delivering a message from a "god".

I think there are two types of angels...

1: Angels which are human-like with wings on their backs.
2: Fallen Angels, which may be human-like but without wings or bloody scabs on their backs where their wings used to be. Or they may be demonic in appearance...
You peer into a Chapel of Zamorak, which appears to be abandoned. Before you can close the doors again, a Revenant Chaos-Bringer flies at you and slays you instantly with a bolt of Shadow Lightning. Oh dear! You are dead!

Or perhaps the word 'angel' is a bastardization of the infernal word 'angelus,' which may have been how demons referred to the icyene.

EDIT: This is, of course, assuming that the Infernal Tongue is, in fact, a nearly perfect replica of real-world Latin.

I have 2 theories. :)

We know the dead don't turn to angels on Gielinor. But, maybe they did on another planet. At one point, the race that lived on that planet migrated to Gielinor, bringing along its culture and beliefs. As a result, the race continued to talk about the angel story, even though it wasn't relevant anymore. Other races might have misinterpreted the story, and it made its way into urban legend.

As for my other theory:
Before the Book of the Underworld was released, we, as players, didn't know much about death. As a result, we made some incorrect assumptions. It's possible some NPC just assumed the dead turned into angels, and the idea caught on. After all, there are a lot of hardworking mortals that can't fly on Gielinor, and what better motivation for doing all that hard work than the reward of being able to soar freely and serenely once its all done?

Finally, even though it may be more of a reference to aviensae rather than angels, here is some more dialogue to put on the table:
During the Death of Chivalry quest:
Sir Owen dies and you have the chance to dedicate a prayer to him. If you choose to make an Armadylian themed prayer, you get the line:
"I pray that you remember Sir Owen's great deeds and strong will. May his soul soar free, unfettered by the bonds of earth."
The legendary creators have been long gone from this world. When they return, they'll be surprised and angered of their creations' new sapience. Meanwhile, the world's most elite, summoned to be its guardians, have abandoned their purpose and intend to plunge the world into chaos. -- Bionicle or RS?
