'Mod Jack of Zaros'.

and only one quote out of the many in this thread is from Mod Jack.

An awful lot of jmods are Zarosian.

Zaros is coming back no matter what we do and we've been explicitly told that if the player supports him his plans will always succeed without a hitch.

Coincidence?

Wow when did they say that about the " if the player supports him" bit.

Can't remember where, but the quote was something along the lines of "With the help of the World Guardian, Zaros' plans would succeed and Gielinor would be better off because of it."

I don't think he would condemn a demon who was committed to his ideals.

You have no idea how glad I am to see this quote. There was once a quest in the suggestions forum about a demon who wanted to walk away from the carnage and bloodshed associated with his people and ultimately became a Guthixian druid. I wanted to reinvent the quest at some point and make him strive to join the Entrana Monastery (where he can be seen fishing after the quest).

: Twitter quote from Mod Stu. It actually dates back to 29th December, but they say a lot of positive things and I try to be selective.

'Nelfarion ‏@AZAlliance1 29 Dec
@JagexStu does Saradomin view himself above everyone else?'

'Mod Stu ‏@JagexStu 29 Dec
@AZAlliance1 Not necessarily above. Is the town sheriff superior to its citizens? He has a duty to uphold the law & keep the varmints out'

Y'know...I've kinda known this for awhile. I'm one of those people that feel like Armadyl is turning into Saradomin 2.0. My opinion can change when more information is released, but naturally, I'd never expect Jagex to admit it.

An argument people often use to claim Armadyl is NOT Saradomin 2.0 is that Saradomin wishes to rule us all. Armadyl wishes to be equals. Your quote debunks that and describes him more as a sheriff than a king, but funnily enough, that's what you could see Armadyl as right now

Although, while they may not declare themselves kings or feel like they are rulers, giving a single being the power of "sheriff" without any higher authority may as well be the same thing as calling them emperor.

I'm having trouble reconciling that with what we've actually seen of him. Maybe this is how he usually acts (he doesn't particularly talk down to you...) until someone defies him. Sheriff to a civilian vs sheriff to the guy the sheriff is pointing a gun at. The second one, he tends to use/abuse his authority and power more.

Got a Twitter response from Mod Stu about something I believe has been of great discussion, which is about the ''true gods'' debacle (Extra thanks since I know for them it is late):

Dragonic End January 7 (Not using my Twitter handle since it involves my name)
@JagexStu Since Saradomin considers true gods as protectors, would he banish Seren and Armadyl?

Mod Stu ‏@JagexStu
@John25646 No, I don't think so, not unless they posed a threat to his followers and he needed to protect them.

I find this truly interesting given the non-discriminatory arguing between the gods during Missing, Presumed Death including Saradomin's back-and-forth with Armadyl.

I've never heard this. I was under the impression that the primary difference between the two was that, while Armadyl was more idealistic, Saradomin was more pragmatic (as he seems to admire this quality of Sir Owen).

What the hell?! ...OK, then what is the difference between Saradomin and Armadyl? At least in terms of philosophy. Until now, they only had two differences

1) Saradomin wants to rule, but Armadyl wishes for everyone to be equal.

2) Saradomin wants to banish all Gods. Armadyl only wants to banish some.

But both of these have been debunked! Now Saradomin also wants equality, but as a "sheriff" figure, just like Armadyl...and Saradomin only wants to banish the non-peaceful Gods...just like Armadyl!

I plan to push Armadyl in future content to try to figure that out. I got some of Saradomin's less than stellar qualities by defying him, let's see what happens. I fully intend to play the same card of "I'm defiant against you because I don't really understand you yet"

Like I said, the difference between them is their means, not their ends. When asked if Armadyl is the only empathetic god in ATL6, this is what mods Osbourne, Raven, and Moltare had to say:

Mod Osbourne: ...Armadyl is romantic, an idealist. Naïve, some people could say. He’s been gullible in the past. He may retain a little bit of that. There’s a sense that we can’t all sit around a table as gods and say “Let’s be friends,” but Armadyl really believes in that kind of diplomatic standpoint, and that’s not necessarily something that can be done, and I think that’s something that’ll come through.

Saradomin, on the other hand, is more wizened and pragmatic. He wants the same ideals, but is more prone to believing that the ends justify the means.
